Biden maintains lead over 2020 contenders as Warren passes Sanders: poll

Source: (Washington Times) Biden maintains lead over 2020 contenders as Warren passes Sanders: poll

What caught my eye here was not Biden's lead, but rather Warren moving past Sanders into 2nd place! This - in my opinion - was wholly unexpected, very much surprising me. And it's been reflected in three recent polls this week, including this one.

But this does seem to perhaps set-up a nice ticket, in my opinion. While I was hoping for Harris as VP, I think Warren would perhaps be an even better veep in terms of the Dems election performance. Obviously I'm basing this ticket upon Biden prevailing, though there's no guarantee of that. In my opinion (again), Biden looks a bit lackluster, equivocal, and prevaricating.

The debates next week are going to be glorious.

I wouldn't doubt it. Personally I feel it's probable he was prodded/pressured by the powers that be within Democratic leadership to blockade or otherwise frustrate the rise of the progressive wing, though I don't believe that accounts for the entirety of his candidacy.

His heart doesn't seem to be in it.

Biden said at a meeting full of wealthy donors that nothing would fundamentally change. If that's not proof that not all Democrats are the same, we need more of it. Any Democrat who is caught alleviating the fears of the wealthy while preaching a populist message needs to be raked over the coals.

I don't think Biden is a bad guy, but his look at me friendly attitude makes me cringe. We don't need a person who may not be here in 20 years. We need folks who are answerable for the next 30 years if need be.

Yeah, I saw that; I physically cringed; unacceptable stuff.

Biden may not be personally a bad guy, but as a candidate, and per actions like this, he very much is.

warren is a fraud who sees government as a weapon. She also is intrinsically dishonest. Trump panders to what he thinks is popular. Much like Bill Clinton.

Trump is no Bill Clinton. Trump had an orgasm today on air, because a general called him "sir" He repeated that 3 times in his answer to a question. Sir. Sir. Sir. Trump is mentally ill. Clinton was a good politician. Those are two different things.

I understand your opinion of Warren is based on your own particular bias. Fair is fair. I'm sure she does not expect your vote.

You can bet your house and all the guns in it! That is a sure bet.

Maybe that's as it should be.

Well, Sanders is done, Harris blew it early, so now it's Biden and Warren. If she comes out swinging, she could take it. If she plays it safe, she will trail Biden by 20+% until she withdraws from the race.

Lib.

Hamish,
Has a Bofors on the roof.

My late father was in charge of those things in WWII-only for a short while since his brother was KIA late in the war-and he was pulled off the ship. I have lots of guns IN my house but none mounted the roof or on top the two barns.

You responded before I corrected my typo. You keep them in the house right?

House, car, one of the barns, gun range.

The first debate is going to determine if Warren has a chance.

No pressure or anything.

I think you can say the same thing for everyone except Biden and Sanders.

Sanders is toast. Biden just has to not **** up.

Which, given some of his gaffes in the past, is asking a bit.

Sanders is toast.

Maybe in the long run, but he'll be around for a long time no matter what happens next week.

He's shown he won't change.

Yeah, but he's cold product. He's just a potential spoiler now.

I have no idea. She never really looked that great when dealing with questions in larger hostile environments, as was seen early in her defense of her genetic's test. But she does seem to be warming-up a bit. And she will have that "women's advantage" on the debate stage in a one-on-one with Trump, his vulgarity aside.

Biden is the most popular candidate with blacks, and that's important. Without that block, no hope of winning.

I want a candidate who will beat Trump. I'm not that concerned about policies, at this juncture. Any democrat will do, for me.

I'm leaning towards Biden because he does a better job of going for the jugular with Trump than the other candidates, most of whom are too nice. kamala could do it, but she's talking visionary language a lot, and not enough jugular, for my blood.

At this point I'm starting to hope it's not Biden, to be honest. This is starting to smell like Hillary 2.0 ...

True, but Biden really gets Trump's dandruff up, and I like that. I do worry about the Hillary 2.0 aspect.

Harris is still in it. I didn't like her early on, but the more I listen the more sense she is making.

Yeah, when the general election arrives, I'm voting for whomever the dems put up. Not because I like the dems, but because they aren't Trump.

She'd be my pick, if I got to choose.
