Best revolver in your opinion. 1950 to date.

I love S&W and have shot most all of their revolvers. Never a bad choice.

But I am seriously biased towards the SP101 .357 3"

It's overbuilt and has serious heft for a small framed revolver.

Handles the .357 round easily, and can spit out .38's all day long without fatigue to your hands and wrists.

That's one of our weapons. Wife likes to keep it in her truck or purse.

I've got one, too, with a spring and trigger job. Smooth 9 lb DA and 3 lb SA. It's my woods gun.

I like to throw a question out and hear what others say.

Alas I let the rabbit out of the hat early. Post #7.

S&W 586 (Pachmayr grips).

Anything under 6 inches is a Derringer ;)

Good pick. I don't know what it is for me, though... I could never warm up to S&W. I've never found one that had the right feel for me. The weight distribution always seems a little off.

Im not the one that brought it up. You afraid to say something to anyone else? Probably shoulda just left it alone. Whatcha think?

Hmmmm

I wouldn't say better quality, but definitely equal quality.

Don't mistake me for an elitest, I own four 1911's and not one of them is a Colt and they all shoot just fine.

I have bear paws so I have to change grips on mine. Otherwise the S&Ws just "fit". I like the cylinder latch more than the Colt. I like the ejector shroud.

Just works for me.

One thing about S&W itself is the myriad of models they make, all mostly variations in different frame size on a single design. If you are familiar with a Mod 10 .38Spc, a Mod 29 .44 Mag will hold no mysteries.

Something I always desired was their "Kit Gun." A J-Frame .22 rimfire.

That's why I figure there's no "best" revolver... what works for someone best is what works for them. I think revolvers are more "personal" that way.... automatics seem more impersonal to me - kinda "one size fits all".
With a revolver, you can find the one that fits you instead of you fitting the gun.

That would be a difficult choice. Lots of great wheel guns out there. Really depends on the purpose of the pistol.

I like the S&W J frame for concealed carry but don't feel the need for personal protection.

Colt Python is one hell of a gun

Personally i like my ruger super blackhawk .44 mag. Kind of partial to single action revolvers myself. Comforts me fly fishing in grizzly country.

I could go on and on.

Why don't you find a gun forum that you can discuss utterly awesome guns on ?

This is a GUN CONTROL section.

While many of my friends seems to have left revolvers out of their home inventory, I still like to hang on to a few....my daughter in particular has opted for the revolver over semi automatic for her personal carry.

How does that relate to GUN CONTROL ?
