He's paying a higher rate than amazon, which made billions.
So spare me the false indignation.
I'm not being indignant and I really don't care what he pays or what Amazon pays.
The question was whether or not the guy is a hypocrite for saying that the rich should pay more.
If he is rich, and he is, then
if he is NOT a hypocrite, he should ALREADY be paying what he recommends.
I feel that paying the least amount of tax legally required is the goal and that is what I do. No hypocrisy in that part of my life.
He feels that the rich, that is him, should pay more. Did he? How much extra over and above the legally required amount did he remit to the Feds? A quarter million? Half a million?
Obviously, there is not question that this guy IS a hypocrite. We are only discussing the degree.
It reminds of a reported discussion between Winston Churchill and a Socialite:
“Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?"
Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "
Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"
Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!"
Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price”
