Barbie's Ken has had a few makeovers

If feminists can spend decades complaining about Barbie then I can complain about Ken. If women get to control how society presents women then men get to control how society presents men. This is not how men should be presented and I will voice my disapproval of it.

Cry some more why don't you...

There is nothing wrong with men voicing their disapproval of how they as a group are presented in society.

This whole must have a penis thing amuses me.

Did any of your guy dolls/action figures have a penis when you were growing up? Gi Joe or whatever he's called?

I never played with Barbie or Ken dolls, I was all about Star Wars figures. Luke, Han, Obi-Wan, Lando, Bobba, Yoda,to name just a few. Not a penis in sight! Oh and Leia didn't have a vagina either. Oh the horror!

I like how women get empowerment where they are shown to be strong and capable and men get this where they turned into metrosexual girly boys. Nice liberal society, nice. Barbie can't just promote a strong masculine image for Ken, nope.

I don't know. I personally think that the guys obsessed about 'masculine image' for a girls doll to be rather easily triggered.

And guess what image little girls will get of men when they are playing with these dolls? They sure as hell won't get a masculine image, but they sure as hell will get a girly one.

And what image do you think they get when they play with the female ones? Unrealistically skinny with huge boobs and a fantastic wardrobe.

If those images bother you, don't get them for your child, right? There are plenty of other toys on the market if you really care enough.

And, once puberty hits, do you think that matters one little bit?

I never said feminists were wrong by their actions in this thread. In fact, I said women have a right to control the image of women in society.

I see no reason that I shouldn't voice my opinion. Men are presented in unfavorable ways all over society and it is about time men stand up and demand it stop.

I don't know dude, what traits are women finding attractive these days? Why do you think these trends exist exactly? Could it be that women are not against it?

What would be a favorable way to portray a Ken doll, in your opinion?

As a man with masculine traits, not this girly man bun skinny jean pink shirt wearing wanker view.

I agree although we probably have different views on what is masculine.

Hey, it only took Barbie 50 some years to break the mold and diversify so we may have to wait a little longer to see if we can get a real man Ken doll.

The last Ken doll was bad, but this is like 10000 times worse. At least the old Ken doll was kind of masculine if you look past a lot of stuff, I guess, but with this there is no digging to get to it. There is so much stuff here that is inspired by girly trends that there is basically nothing else.

Yeah, but they had guns and light sabers which made up for the lack of penises. ;)

Is your junk exaggerated like Barbie's boobs are? :2razz:

Well, *I* exaggerate about my junk.

And now that I think about it, so does my wife, only in the other direction.
