Barbara Bush saw Trump as a '''symbol of greed'''

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barbara Bush didn’t bite her tongue in recent years when it came to Donald Trump: She just didn’t like him. But a new biography of the former first lady finds that her disdain for the Republican president, who transformed the party her own family had embodied for generations into his likeness, dates as least as far back as a 1990s diary entry.

She referred to Trump in the entry as “the real symbol of greed in the 80s.”

Mrs. Bush was a smart lady. She called them as she saw them also.

I was not a big fan, she was pretty partisan.

And for someone like her to consider leaving the Republican Party over Trump.....well

Mrs. Bush was a very smart lady with keen judgement.

But would you have started this thread if she had called an inspired leader? She called them as YOU see them; let's be honest.

We just happen to see him for what he is. I feel sorry for the people who see him for what he isn't.

Scott Rigell, a lifelong Republican and prior Congressman from my district actually withdrew from the Republican Party rather than vote for Trump.

Lots of real Republicans smelled the stink of Trumpism coming and have bailed. There are no conservatives with guts left in D.C..

Isn't there a saying about fooling some of the people all of the time? Trump has found those people.

What's notable is that Barbara Bush was about as staunch a Republican as you can get

Being George Bush seniors wife I'm sure she knew who killed JFK.Her sleazey husband was on the Warren Commision.

So what? Here's a real secret, so let's keep it between us:

A lot of Republicans don't like or support Trump

Think about that.

Why do you suppose that is?
