Pointing to Trump’s rhetoric, attorneys for Kansas militiaman convicted of mosque bomb plot ask for a more lenient sentence

Attorneys representing a Kansas man convicted of a 2016 plot to massacre Somali Muslim refugees by bombing a mosque and apartment complex in Garden City, Kan., have asked a federal judge to consider a more lenient sentence, arguing that President Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric should be taken into account as the “backdrop” for the case.

They note that Stein was an “early and avid supporter” of Trump and argue that the climate in the months leading up to the 2016 election should be taken in account when evaluating the comments prosecutors used to build their case.

How's that for a defense. And Trump says he should "tone it up."

Obviously, we know it's not totally Trump's fault, that these far right quacks plot against the Muslim community. But, the question is, does the rhetoric of Donald Trump encourage these crazy assholes?

Yes. I believe these quacks are open to MSM suggestion. Calculated news events to attain media coverage loves to use outrage and we are reaping the results. White, right, Christian, nationalists sre most obviously open to suggestion. Isn't that obvious?

WOW Winston, this is a huge fail on your part.

In the future you may want to actually read the full article before making a fool of yourself.

As much as the article tried to propagandize it otherwise what their attorney actually said is that if they had known Trump could actually win and create the great future for working men that he has, they would not have plotted such an act.

Well, when you have no cards to play, you grasp at anything. What else is a lawyer to do?

The judge should accept the claim and reward the person by ordering triple doses of execution drugs so he mercifully dies quicker to reduce suffering. That'd be fair, don't you think?

It is always someone else's fault. What are these losers going to do when there are no more responsible people left to blame?

He was in a militia. I wonder if that militia is now heading to the southern boarder.

If we are gonna go out on Looney Tunes limbs blaming... why not include blame for the lying media that to our side seem like such an one side only impenetrable wall? A wall that, to the crazed, needed blown up so the people can hear other than the messages that the MSM restricts our fake news to be. Its not Trump that drives right wing fringies over the edge, its a controlled left wing fake news media that held all the cards...that drives our fringes crazy.

Just like Trump does to your fringes... well, actually pretty much all y'all.

But that house of cards is collapsing under the weight of the constant and no longer disguised, no longer hidden deceits, the media's obvious bias even though inferring that they are even handed. What a :lamo

Trump calls the media the "Enemy of the People". It can't get more explicit than that.

If they can blame Trump, they can also blame you. You support the existence of government, therefore you are also culpable.

We know it’s not “totally trump’s fault” because it is not Trump’s fault at all

Sure, sure turn the other cheek and just see what happens.. it's wrong that the Department of Homeland Security is off on some wild migrant goose chase, meanwhile our own President is emboldening the population most likely to attack America: the radical unhinged right.

If eating Twinkies can be proffered as evidence of one's being beset by an extenuating circumstance, I suppose so too can being subjected to Trump's rhetoric.

He calls fake news the 'Enemy of the People".

How do you folks screw even that up... and then think you can get away with it, too? Its one lie after deceit after a dud bombshell after another with you folks. Jigs up, the reign of error, by choice, is over.

What sort of things might one do to the 'enemy of the people'?
