Are you going to wear a mask?

Since they're telling people don't buy masks but leave them for the sick and med professionals, I guess I'll have to fashion one out of a bandana or cut-up t-shirt. It seems a little ridiculous looking but I saw several people at the store wearing them today. I'd rather look a little kooky than get a disease that causes high fever, shortness of breath and delirium. Early Halloween?

CDC gives ''voluntary'' guidance on wearing coronavirus masks. Trump isn't volunteering.

'The Centers for Disease Control Friday evening issued voluntary guidance for Americans to cover their mouth and nose when going outside.

The new guidance came in response to accumulating evidence that people can spread the coronavirus without showing symptoms of COVID-19. Surgeon General Jerome Adams emphasized that the measure was intended to prevent possibly infected individuals from spreading the virus rather than to protect the wearer.

"The CDC is recommending that Americans wear a basic cloth or fabric mask that can be either purchased online or simply made at home with material that you probably already have," Trump said. "These face coverings can easily be washed at home or reused. But we want to emphasize that the CDC is not recommending the use of medical grade or surgical grade masks and we want that to be used for our great medical people that are working so hard."

I use them for work. But, I'm using the kind house painters use. Not great, but better than nothing, I suppose.

Somebody said the eyes were as susceptible as the mouth but I wear glasses that may help.

Eyes are more susceptible because they have less defensive mechanisms.

I've been getting by with a bandana, but it won't protect me. What it will do is keep my droplets from hitting other people, or at least minimize it.

Plus keeping more than 6 feet away, etc.

I don't need a mask, but the governor says I got to wear one.

I guess I'll put people at ease and go ahead and do it.

I scored an M-95 mask from one of the painters on job site I had to stop on Friday.

It hangs from my rear view mirror.

I still have to go out to meet crews. We’re out in the open, so distancing is not a serious problem.

I am gloved and masked.

Most people I have seen out so far are not.

I have not been inside a store in two weeks, and it scares me to see the Wal Mark lot three quarters full, or hear the stories from the guys in the trades about the lines at Home Depot.

Well I am gona wear bandana along with my cowboy hat and chaps and boots and spurs. I'll even strap on my pea shooters. (.50Cal cap and ball 1858 modified Remington pattern firing blunt boat tail lead). If we are gona dress up like its Halloween may as well go whole hog. Right?

No, probably not. To be honest I do not fear this virus. I will quarantine if I get it. I will do my best not to spread it. But with millions of young people spreading this disease it seems inevitable it will be spread far and wide. Also the poor seem unconcerned and sad to say the immigrants who evidently do not know that there is a pandemic will continue to spread this virus. I think a vaccine is our only real hope.

I'm trying to avoid it until a vaccine is produced. I really hate getting sick with high fevers. My only chance of really getting it is grocery shopping, right now.

About 2 weeks ago a friend gave me a few of the N95 masks. For industrial work that he does, he had bought a case from Home Depot before all this started.

Mostly I stay home, but when going to grocery store or drug store I wear the mask.

Smart. I would definitely wear one of those going out, if I had one.

Yes, I feel a bit more comfortable with it on.

Those "seamstress" skills are handy for making your own. I do not have that skill, but have noticed a few rather fashionable looking homemade ones. If you must go out in public it is wise and courteous to others to wear one.

I notice a lot of people are still “running” out to stores........ or the grocery.

For those of you who have the option, Insta Cart is a thing.........

I remembered that I had a 3 pack of extra thick, high quality fine particulate masks from like 8 years ago when I did a lot of drywall/spackle sanding in a confined bedroom. I'd actually used 2 of them, leaving only 1 new, so I gave the new one to the client who's home I'd done the work in, and I cleaned the other 2 out. I've been wearing them for a week now, every time I go to a public place. I learned how to adequately wash them, dry and re-use them.

Anyone know where I can buy a gorilla suit? Im gonna wear that instead of a mask when I go out in public.

I thought you were already wearing a gorilla suit.

Oh, ok. People can be cryptic when posting sometimes.

Too short, don't get it. Too long, don't want to read it. lol

Yeah that makes sense

Masks tend to contain any virus you might have from spreading to others. Even a simple cloth mask may impede transmission, so on balance they should be worn.

Except by Muslims of course! (J/K)

I think even without this scare, the proper response id to deck a person who coughs in your face.

Quite frankly, I'm not worried about catching it. In fact, I think I already had it. Just very mild symptoms.

if so, you probably infected someone else

I have an unused N95 mask in its original packaging & I've ordered a pack of cloth masks from Amazon.
