Are you a Star Trek TNG fan?

You’ll love this insider stuff. I couldn’t even get to the end of it...

Star Trek: The Next Generation (TV Series 1987?1994) - Trivia - IMDb

Did you like the show?

I really enjoy Scifi, fantasy, most speculative fiction, even when its only a modern or future day western. I never like this show because it insult the common sense of viewers. A star ship with thousands purportedly on board, the away team is the Captain/Admiral, First Mate, Chief Medical Officer, 1st Engineer, 2nd mate, chief information officer? You've got to be kidding. Who's guarding the throne room?

Bradbury should have made the show about a dedicated away team. Why wasn't he thinking?

I haven't watch this latest version, yet. But I didn't watch the last one either. Too much other good stuff to waste my time.

I am a Star Trek Fan period.

But I’m what Trekkies refer to as a “Niner”, DS9 for me was the best Trek series.

The only Star Trek series I loathe is Enterprise, I despise that series and don’t consider it canon.

I haven’t seen Discovery yet.

I would rate Star Trek series as follows:

DS9
TNG
TOS
Voyager
Enterprise

I like all the Star Trek series. Next Generation is my favorite.

I love DS9 and TNG about equally in different ways, but I think TNG gets the edge since I didn't much care for the whole Sisko is space Muhammad/Jesus/emissary of the prophets bit, and in general the whole swath of Bajoran religiosity which occupied a distressing amount of DS9's real estate. Also I feel Picard is overall the best captain of the franchise to date, though Sisko comes closest to his throne (Kirk isn't even a contender).

Not a fan of Voyager or Janeway by and large.

Haven't seen enough of Enterprise or Discovery to judge.

Okay, somebody needs to explain the appeal of DS9 to me. I found that show insufferable.

Did you like the show?

Yes, very much so, though I will never be accused of being a Trekkie.
I like the world they created in the second generation.
No longer did all the women have to wear miniskirts ( sad but fair modification), racial prejudices were pretty much gone amongst the Federation people among themselves.
Gone was advancement BECAUSE of your race, gender, or species, but based on your own abilities.
I think the high caliber of the enemies they faced made that necessary.
The ring knockers and tea passers in our US military got a lot of people killed with their incompetence in the early stages of WW2.
So when facing Romulans, and others, you have to be on the top of your game.

Oh, one more thing....not all the red shirts die.

I don’t know why everyone hate enterprise so much. It’s wasnt that bad the last season was awful but they already knew they were canceled at that point. It’s better than voyager which I just can not sit through again.

Great cast of characters, serialized storylines, and showed a different side of trek that the other shows wouldn’t dare to touch. The first 2 seasons are junk but after that it’s great.

I'm watching Star Trek: Discovery at the moment. But I am interested in watching the older Star Trek shows.

The only ones worth watching are the original series with Kirk and Spock, and the Deep Space 9 Dominion War episodes. The rest are pretty crappy.

Too "soapy" for me.

Exactly. The first handful of seasons was eight soap operas for every episode where something happened. To get to the episode that actually featured a phaser going off, you'd have to trudge through eight interminable episodes of "Miles annoys his wife by leaving the toilet seat up."

They improved things by the last two seasons by making it six soap opera episodes to every one episode where something happened.

:applaud

In order from best to worst:
TNG
TOS
Voyager
DS9
Enterprise

I still watch 1 and II. BBC plays TNG and Voyager regularly.

I lost interest with discovery about episode 4.

I recall being bored with enterprise and all the zhindi foolishness. I may try it again.

DS9 was pretty awful at first but I liked the Dominion war arc.

I've like Star Trek since TOS.
