On average, it takes more education at the college level to be a conservative then a member of the left. As a conservative, you really have to understand religion and out of that -- the study of John Calvin is a factor. Then you have to study the Greek and Roman history from 500 BC to 500 AD. As a education for the left, you really do not need to study 5,000 years of religions -- all you need is to refute it. As a member of the left, you only need to understand the history of Europe for the last 200 years, and 2,000 years of European history to have a better understanding. It helps if the left was understanding the teachings of John Calvin as well.

I can go on but I am not writing a book.

That's a big part of the reason I say that most Americans who call themselves "conservatives" are not.

If you have only have a high school education, your really are not a educated conservative. If you really want to talk to a educated conservative, you really need to have a Masters of a PhD. If your a progressive, the new coined word, you need a undergrads degree. Number of times, a radio talk show conservative, if really a socialist of the left without them understanding it. We live in a country, were women have the right to vote. Being born within the United States your a citizen. When you turn 18 you have the right to vote. There is no poll tax at the federal level. If Plato was alive today, he would only support the government of the Vatican City, not the United States of America. And yes, Plato is a conservative.

Now i will agree that on avg in my personal subjective experience in REAL LIFE the biggest conspiracy theorist and people that buy fake news are on the right. But they are still INDIVIDUALS and DO NOT represent the right. People mock them right left and center for thier nonsensical claims and beliefs.
 
By definition,conservatives are reluctant to,and don't care for change......Look at who's POTUS and the changes he desires.....times are changing
 
Some are very easily swayed if you work on their emotions not facts
 
i think off of logic and facts for instance i dont feel... i know the twin towers were brought down another way beside aircraft fuel....... aircraft fuel does not melt steel it does not burn hot enough.... this is a fact.

I find this to be a rather strange statement, up there with "if you supported Bill Clinton, you are not a feminist." I must take issue depends what you mean by "support." If you mean I applaud some of the actions he takes which fall in line with my conservative viewpoints, he has my support on a variety of issues. If, on the other hand, you mean I support him as a person and think he is the flag-bearer of American Conservatism, no. He definitely is not.

After all, I applauded some of Barack Obama's actions as president of the United States. That did not make me an Obama supporter; just someone intellectually honest enough to think he made the correct decisions from time to ime.

It is my personal judgement after living close to a university. Look, if you were a 19th century conservative, you received a education in Greek and Latin. Read the first Bible in Greek. You could be in the United Kingdom, learning Greek, but, Greece did not become independent until around mid-century of the 19th century. And, today the Greece GDP is equal to the state of Michigan. If your learned Greek in the 19th century, and your from the United Kingdom, speaking Greek is a worthless understanding because French and German have a larger economy. If you are reading from a 19th century United Kingdom male that because the standard cannon of English Lit, I just pointed out his basic undergrad education.

To me, if your calling yourself a conservative and never read Plato or understand Plato -- do not call yourself a conservative.

well I have but I call myself a libertarian. I of course have Read Locke, Rousseau, JBM, Hobbs etc

I wonder how many lefties have read Marx, etc? BTW your personal judgement doesn't really mean much to me, based on some your earlier claims

Not all D's are lefties. In fact, you're falling behind the times. The D are now the party of the educated and affluent. Although, this may not yet be the case in Ohio and locales further south. But it certainly is the national trend.

We'll have to see what happens tomorrow up north of Columbus; Wealthy Delaware Co votes for a new Rep.

Reading El Capital of Karl Marx -- the most ulcer reading man has ever written. The time people read Marx, is a first year student.

Oh lots of Democrats are educated and affluent. the kennedys, the clinton's, the Obamas, Schumer, etc all are. the main difference between rich D's vs Rich Rs is the amount of government in making them rich

A president that really liked Karl Marx, was President Lincoln during the American Civil War. If there was not a Karl Marx, then the Revolution of 1848 would have been different. If there was not a Revolution of 1848, then the American Civil War would have been different. If there was not Karl Marx or the Revolution of 1848, the Confederate States of America maybe been able to win there independence. Anyone that deals with military history will say during that time period, if your invading a country, you need two times the size in the military. The union forces was 2.1 to 1, and 45% of the military was 45% of first generation Americans and immigrants from Europe.

The immigrants and Europeans that came to America after the Revolution of 1848, recalled Serfdom came to an end. If you were a serf or your parents were a serf -- you have support of Europeans understanding American slaves and European serfs were and was tied to the land pre-civil war. Immigrants came to America to fight in the Civil War, with many willing to accept $300 from someone who did not want to serve. They served in the military, because they understood there history.

Reasonable point. In this particular context, I happened to mean "support" in the sense of those in his base who practically (or actually) idolize the man. These people generally call themselves conservatives.

DJT has the capacity to make correct decisions, although I can't point to any of them from his time in public life.
 
Having just read the "forum rules" so that I can begin posting, the title of this thread/poll smacks of contention and belittles conservatives. It appears to be an effort to skirt the forum rules.

Of course not; however, the last time I checked, it was also against the rules to complain about what was being done or not done to enforce them. Just FYI.
 
There are smart conservatives as well as well educated conservatives.

But then there's Trump's core base. The rabid goons that slobber all over him. Despite the fact they are getting screwed by him. Most of those people are not well educated.
