Anyone else seen "Unplanned"?

It's bovine excrement. She's not a trained u/s technician. Good grief.

So there has never been an instance when someone not trained has been pressed into service? How would you know?

I'm asking because I saw an old "Law and Order" (whose stories were "ripped from the headlines") , and that was the issue, a sales rep for an expensive machine who stepped in during a procedure.

Abby Johnson is not the only Pro-Abortion leader to turn against it. Norma McCorvey, who was Jane Roe in Roe vs Wade, later regretted her actions and in 1994 became a Pro-Life activist. She died in February 2017.

I take it that you haven't seen the movie. She was asked to assist by operating the Ultrasound machine for the doctor doing the abortion because of a staff shortage. Although she had been a clinic director for eight years, had had two abortions, and had sold
22,000 abortions, she had never seen one. When she saw the unborn baby try to move away from the probe and saw it torn apart, she changed her views.

Was she trained to do this?

Would you be ok with an non clinical person performing a clinical test during a medical procedure on you?

Law & Order hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would FREAK if an untrained person touched me.

You are taking the story the movie/book presents at face value. That story remains debatable. Do some web searches on the protagonist.

Remember outraged Carly Fiorina from the GOP convention?
There is only one problem: The fetus shown in the video was not aborted by a Planned Parenthood doctor. In fact, it wasn’t aborted at all. It was a miscarriage. The mother, Alexis Fretz of Pennsylvania, posted her story online in a June 2013 WordPress blog. CMP even includes in its YouTube video’s description a link to the story—which cannot be seen when embedded on other websites—as if to stave off future allegations that it intentionally mislead its viewers.

The patient wouldn't know if she was untrained. Chalk it up to PP putting profits ahead of patient safety.

My wife and I went last night. I found it to be a powerful movie driven by the right to life argument, but was sympathetic to pro life persons. For example in one scene the lead "Abby" was put off by a woman's "git 'er done" attitude, but the movie did not criticize or focus on her. True, teens and young women who had unplanned pregnancies were run though like cattle, yet they were treated sympathetically at the same time. IMO, the movie focused on the lack of informed consent. The central message was the salesmanship used by PP to prevent any of these women from changing their minds. Much like a time share presentation.

Although my wife I are both against abortion, we look at it differently. My take a way is that as gruesome and disgusting as abortion is, the alteration of one's trajectory in life may be a valid consideration. And if you are a participant in a Christian culture, forgiveness is central. And if you aren't you can still forgive yourself. The biggest variable is how you feel about what you have done. Some just move on, some are traumatized, and the rest are somewhere in the middle. Time does heal all wounds.

I would encourage men and women, particularly the younger crowd to see the movie more as a precaution to not get someone pregnant. You can't unsee the ultrasound of the abortion. Men often take advantage of humanity's sex drive and practice unsafe sex with no clue as to the burden a woman may have to face by trusting him. It's her responsibility to look out for herself and make her own decisions on the use of effective birth control.

There was also a segment of the abortifacient, RU-486. Assuming the scene was relatively accurate, I had no idea how rough that was. Not quite easy peasy like we have been led to believe.

Cheers.

No not yet
last i checked its only in the biggest theater in my area and no where else and they have it in one of the nicer screen rooms so its not worth the money to me yet. Id see it in the 699-9.99 range but not over that.

Due to its controversy of not exactly being a true story seems they are having some issues getting as many screens as they want. if they move it i will go see it thought otherwise ill wait till streaming or somethign like that. I havent read the book cover to cover mostly cliff notes and sections and i found it "interesting" but i didnt find anything powerful about it. Maybe im bias because at east information wise there was nothing new to me in it, there was no medical science or procedure steps etc that i wasnt aware of already. I always find opposite sides interesting but i doubt theres ever going to be a time in my life where i support violating a womens legal rights and treating her as a lesser vs the unborn. I admit thats ME, some people are fine with violating her rights and treating her as a lesser vs the unborn and thats THEM. I respect them when they simply admit it and give thier reasons though. It will just never be me . . . my heart and mind will never be able to justify being on the that mostly wants to treat women as lessers and violate thier legal rights.

we all have to pick which entity we choose over the other and when . . for me in most cases (not all) its the woman

like i said though eventually i will see it though.

Inaccuracy is not the reason Unplanned is getting screens - if that were true 'Braveheart' would never have been shown, along with most Hollywood "True" stories. The reason its having trouble getting screens is pressure from PP and simple bigotry.

actually yes it is ONE of the reasons no matter what you say that fact will remain true no matter your denial

The anti-abortion movement could not exist with pathological dishonesty and deception.

Anyone else remember than idiotic tripe, "The Silent Scream"?

i also remember the claim of the baby reaching out and grabbing the doctors finger during a surgery LOL
but also to be fair, i guess you named it right you would be talking about the "anti-abortion movement" because there are in fact plenty of pro-life people that would never participate in such stuff.

Do you have proof of pressure ? It is showing on a number of screens here... just not filling the seats. Those are the big multiplexes that can take the chance. If a theater thought they would make a profit they would show it.

I would consider the number of lies and smears told by PP and their supporters to be pressure not to show it. As for profit, Unplanned brought in $6.5 million in its first week on a very small number of screens, twice what its makers had expected. Our local
theater, Crossgates Mall, scheduled it for only three nights on only one screen. Demand has forced them to expand viewing times from three to seven daily showings, and to extend its play dates. As for the bigot who claimed all Pro-Lifers have to practice deception,
I will only say that I have dealt with PP employees in the past, and if one of them told me it was raining outside I'd have to look out the window before I believed them. They were the most deceitful people I have ever met.

A PP counselor helped my wife and myself talk an extended family member out of getting an an abortion, and my wife and myself adopted that child and are raising it as our own. Your blanket statement about PP employees most likely is based in ignorance, bias, and a total lack of any personal interaction with any PP employees without preconceived notions and blinders.....you're dismissed.....no charge...

Nonsense. Whatever sells tickets and puts butts in the seats wins in the movie industry, no matter how hard you try and spin it.

No matter what lies you and PP emoployees tell, they still have all the morality of a guard at Treblinka. You're dismissed. No charge.

Most suction abortions occur with the patient awake and aware.
Pain meds are given and perhaps meds to help the patient relax a bit.

Yes, I realize this. But you get my point, right? That it's ludicrous to claim that what Johnson says happened could never happen?

No , I don’t get your point since you implied the patient would be unaware of the staff in the room.

I have my own doubts about Abby’s claims about what happened since she had been caught lying.

Heck , she even claimed the Planned Parenthood clinic she worked at performed abortions on women who were not pregnant.

From a tweet just before Rep Johnston asked Director Abby Johnston why she should be believed.

Abby Johnston was the so called "whistle blower" a couple years ago who stated that the PP she worked at in Texas would perform abortions on women who were not even pregnant.
