Fauci can analyze data - I'll give him that

Please name one scientific conclusion Fauci has made, involving HCQ, asymptomatic transmission, masks, etc. that has been proven to be right, with no science disputing it

Dr. Fauci here is obliquely referring to the anti-science Trump/GOP.

Since Trump won't wear a mask, his supporters have the notion that wearing a mask shows disloyalty to Trump.

Fauci has changed the goalposts how many times now? 50 or 100, no wonder people don't believe his words. That said, he is certainly in a no win situation, that's life, suck it up and stop moaning Mr Faucsist! That is directed at Fauci not you.

Well we're quietly very close to the initial death toll estimates, so they weren't that far off the mark.

In early April or late March, with less than 10,000 deaths, Fauci projected 100,000 to 200,000 deaths total. The next day, Trump "projected" 100,000 deaths and said maybe less.

Fauci was and remains on the mark. If his projection is low, it hopefully will not be so by much. If it is low, the reason is that we did not continue counter measures.

You can't use the anti-intellectual, "models don't work! They're all completely wrong!" while Fauci's projection from months ago remains valid.

If you're following the data and modeling based on existing metrics, probably not. It is better than just grasping at straws and saying that 15 cases will soon be 0 though, which coming from someone who had the nation's intelligence resources at his disposal, is pretty daft.

Very true. Science is mercenary. A big part of a scientist's job is writing grant proposals. In other words, asking for research funding. So to be a successful scientist you must be good at marketing. Either that, or you have to be interested in things that your funding sources happen to be interested in.

I am not a scientist but I got a PhD in a scientific field. I saw that I would not fit into the academic world because I am not good at marketing and my interests tend to be non-mainstream. The academic environment I was in was the most authoritarian environment I had ever experienced.

When Fauci says "science is true" that shows that science for him is dogmatic and authoritarian. The opposite of what it's supposed to be.

We are not getting "truth" from our scientific establishment. Anyone who tries to oppose the authorities is accused of being a conspiracy theorist or a quack. Their ideas are ignored and never investigated.

The organizations, corporations and governments that fund research all have their agendas. Research that does not support an agenda can easily be buried. And research can easily be distorted so it seems to support agendas even if it does not.

I suspect that there are researchers who specialize in making research look like it supports something when it doesn't. I have seen research funded by drug companies, for example, that uses deceptive and confusing statistics to make useless drugs look good.
