Well, for whatever Ann may be, she's not a stark raving nincompoop; thus she knows damn well that democratic-socialism isn't at all or even remotely the PRC-/USSR-style socialism/communism (state ownership of firms and single-party control of government) that's antithetic to democracy and capitalism.
When I hear public figures revile Bernie and others as "Socialists," I find myself wondering whether it's the speaker who's too stupid/ignorant to know the difference between democratic-socialism and socialism or whether they think we audience members are too stupid/ignorant to know the difference. Of course, even as I wonder that, I don't actually give a damn what be the accurate answer because neither bodes well enough for the speaker that I'd give him/her my approbation.
For whatever Bernie and his ilk think about huge firms and megarich folks, he/they aren't of a mind to nationalize industry and form a one-party state. Coulter knows that just as well as anyone else having half the sense God gave a goose.

And just like that, Coulter became a darling of the Left.
