My entitled mentality is "I am an American and I deserve to say everything I want," but as far as lifestyle, no way. Frankly, I know you're not big on the liberals, but have you noticed the massive amount of liberals transitioning to models of sustainable living? They actually base a big part of their lives on reducing human impact on the natural world, not to mention the historical bleeding-heart types who would give their last dollar to a family in need of a meal.
Conservatives donate more to charities than liberals, so it's not like one side cares and the other doesn't. Churches and shelters and many organizations run entirely or almost entirely from private donors, and even the website we're conversing via depends on human generosity to maintain itself. When I look around America, I see people who are working very hard, have taken on a lot of responsibility, and are trying the best they can. According to my Facebook page, I currently am friends with some 500 people (a vast overstatement) and aside from a handful I barely know, I'd say 1 or 2 of them is a spoiled rich person who thinks they deserve everything. You should look at all the people you know and see how many of them are spoiled and want to take, take take and never give back. And then if you don't know those people, what makes you so sure that everybody else does know them?
Unfortunately our last election proves there is a slight majority in this country that thinks they are owed something simply because they are Americans. They seem to believe that obama's plans for redistribution of wealth are laudable and are basically voting themselves money. It's all downhill from here.
