America has lost its mind over political correctness

Changing the meaning of words is the liberals stock in trade. They cannot engage in honest debate, because their positions are immoral at their roots, and their true intent is authoritarian socialist rule.

Webster if full of sheet. Liberalism is the belief of authoritarianism and forced socialism. Libertarianism is the only political philosophy that supports individual freedom, and tolerance of the rights of others.

Changing the meaning of words is the propagandist's stock-in-trade. Orwell pointed it out a century ago, after experience working for government.

He observed that first the language must be corrupted, and what naturally follows is the corruption of thought. That's where we've been in this country at least since Edward Bernays came onboard the Wilson administration to massage "public relations".

Each side points the finger at the other, and they are both guilty of changing the meanings of words.

I'm not sure if this is really political correctness. They didn't fire the guy or make him go home. They simply swapped him to another game. If they would have had Robert Lee announce the game right after all that mess people could accuse them of possible setting it up like that on purpose to poke fun or something. They were just thinking ahead. Now I agree that this should be unnecessary, and that anyone upset about the name of an announcer needs to check themselves, but this was simply a private company making a decision. I definitely don't think it's one of the more offensive examples of people making choices based on political correctness.

Correction. It was a private company making an insanely stupid decision. I hope ESPN by now is massively embarrassed.

no threat to his life or anything else.
his name is just Robert Lee (a common asian name)

so they moved him.

because it is similar to Robert E. Lee.

Next they will act on anyone with the last name "Davis".

Nobody is attacking anybody over a name. ESPN chose to do this because they didn't want to look stupid over something so simple. Twitter would have had a field day making fun of ESPN, and they chose to avoid it so the focus could be more on the game.

You're the ones who seem to be trying to attack someone over a choice to avoid controversy.

However ESPN did come out looking stupid and they are being made fun of on twitter.

Exactly, that is the entire reason the government has taken nearly complete control over education. Today, they not only change and define the meaning of words, but the very way in which people think....

You then must hope that Robert Lee is so embarrassed. In anticipation of negative feedback and that affect on Lee promulgated the decision made.

Those that rail against "political correctness" are doing nothing more than attempting to shift the paradigm to their own political correctness.

Rather than wait for the facts of the matter to come about, you espouse ignorant opinion. Tell me, if you knew know than then, what would you say?

what was ignorant about it? nothing. they pulled him off a football game because his name happens to match a general that is 150 years dead.
it is knee jerk reaction at it's finest.

You don't recognize that Mr. Lee, himself, did not want to deal with the great possibility of being the subject of trolling. There was a limited amount of time to deal with the issue, hence your misconception that it was a "knee jerk" reaction. Given the limited amount of information, compared to what more came out later, I thought the decision dumb. Given further information, I understand and have no problem with the decision made. What would you thought of Lee being told the show must go on, when he considered himself a target for going forward?

You prove my point and the OP. Thanks people have gone stupid over political correctness.
You did a perfect job of it.

This country has gone past full retard straight to potato.

However ESPN did come out looking stupid and they are being made fun of on twitter.

No, conservatives ended up looking stupid because as it turns out ESPN asked this Robert Lee guy specifically what he wanted to do, and he decided to take the other game himself in part because it was actually closer to where he lived and would allow him to get home sooner. You people made a massive deal out of absolutely nothing. As usual conservatives are offended by PC more than politically correct people are offended by them.

Then you're saying Mr. Lee should have been forced to be on the program when he had legitimate reason for not wanting to. He did not want to go on.

read the OP.

By your request, I read the OP for the second time. You said what you did without the benefit of additional, pertinent information as I gave in my post. Lee did not want to be on the program. You won't answer the question: Should Lee have been forced to be on the program, against his own wishes?
