Trump is a known quantity. The Republican Senators are now on trial. Will they fix the trial, by not allowing witnesses or evidence? We shall see.

I have no faith in them. The base is entirely too on the Trump train, primarily thanks to Fox news and their handlers shielding them from reality.

If the witnesses can be forced, I believe enough will break open to hinder Trump in 2020. We won't get Senate removal, but hobbling Trump will be good enough. Unfortunately, I see no way McConnel will allow witnesses or evidence to be presented.

You might be right. There's likely a fair amount of damage he could do leading into the election, if he's so inclined. Bolton knows everything within the GOP at the highest levels going back decades! And now recently, he knows inside Trump's administration too - as a trusted member.

Why are the republicans blocking Hunter from speaking? Joe? Hillary? Obama?

They have the votes. They can call whoever they want and deny ALL of the democrats witnesses.

Why aren't they doing it?

Who are they protecting, Trump, or their electorate?

Not to mention a 'legal' acquittal doesn't acquit him politically anyway. He'll still have that political judgement to face in November and none of that "jury" is worried about re-election.
