Accuser's schoolmate says she recalls hearing of alleged Kavanaugh incident

Glad you agree that what you wrote about others is really out there... ^^^

I am not the only DP member here who has been sexually assaulted. I feel safe in saying your lowly opinion about others borders on fantasy and is highly offensive.
You know, everything written here doesn't always have to be a partisan pissing match.
Please stop insulting those of us who want nothing more than to know the truth.

Unfortunately, in this case, Ms. Ford doesn't leave us much to go on. Certainly, not enough to derail Justice Kavanaugh's SC aspirations.

I get it. He is a Republican and therefore he is allowed to do what he wants to women. It is a ****ty view that too many of you right wing nationalists hold. You want nothing more than to have this man on the SC simply because you Dear Leader told you so. You have no interest in what happened to this woman at all. People are clearly discounting other accounts, degrading this woman, threatening her, calling her a liar, ignoring what evidence there is, demanding no investigation, and even saying that because students gave her bad reviews she must by lying. All because she came forward. Every woman who speaks out against a Republican is threatened, degraded, mocked, ignored and called a liar. The purpose here is nothing more than to disgrace this woman publicly to discourage any other women from speaking too. If they do dare speak against Trump or his friends they'll be subjected to the same.

Um, what?
Better for you to take the above to the CT.

You have your nerve implying that someone who has herself experienced sexual assault is trying to minimize another’s. You begin with the ugly and stupid overgeneralization that if someone is a Republican, he is allowed to do what he wants to women.

Given your bias, you may struggle to understand that wanting facts that are thus far nonexistent isn’t the same as degrading ormocking Ford. There is no way yet to determine whether the claimed assault actually took place, and the accuser is so far unable to provide key details.

It’s okay to ask for relevan tfacts when such an accusation is made. If you were accused of sexual assault, would you not want your accuser to say when and where the alleged assault occurred? To produce corroborating evidence? And what would this have to do with your political affiliation?

If this were you being accused, Kreton, what would you want?

Any reasonable person would understand that the accused has a right to defend themselves, which involves details. How can Kavanaugh defend himself against assaulting Ford at some place, at some date, at some time, some 36 years ago?
This is stunning.

Totally silly. Back in the '80's, going to the beach or "the shore" was what you did in H.S.. I didn't cost that much, not with a bunch of kids. And yes, underage drinking was plentiful.

Speaking of which, what do we know of Dr. Ford's history with alcohol??

One of her friends stated Ford told her that she wished she hadn't drank to much and had sex with so many men during her HS/college days. But it's probably because she was traumatized.

This is stunning.

The key word is "reasonable." Another is "fair." As someone who has experienced what is being accused, I have very strong feelings about a woman's right to be heard and believed.

But it's also true that false accusations do happen. The life of one of my Wisconsin cousins was nearly destroyed by his tween stepdaughter's false accusation of inappropriate touching. One of my former brothers-in-law was falsely accused by a tween stepdaughter too. And I have a son. Were he to be accused, I would expect at the minimum to know when and where what he was accused of happened. How else could he defend himself?

What is fair is to gather and assess all the facts. So far there aren't many. Who knows what juicy new tidbit may be revealed in, oh, the next 15 minutes! I think reasonable people are able to see more than one side of all this. Sadly, some have already decided that Ford is lying or that Kavanaugh attempted rapes. There is nothing to be done with those whose attitude is "Don't bother me with facts; my mind is made up."

I wouldn't be surprised if Ford was traumatized by something around that time in her life.

And who remembers a rumor like that 36 years later?

Just about anyone. I remember which girls got talked about in high school. Might also clearly remember if one of parties became very high profile.

Really? "many of the majority"? Tell me...exactly how many? Heck, can you even tell me what the number is that makes up the "majority"?

It's not that I'm calling you a liar, you understand. I just want to get some facts here.

The majority is the party in charge, currently Republican. There are 11 Republican members, and 10 Democratic members. I have heard three of the 11 Republicans publicly question her honesty.
What other facts might you require?

So...three out of eleven, according to you, have questioned her honesty. How many of them called her a liar? Can you name them?

btw, I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I don't consider three out of eleven to be many. I'd say that's a few.

I wonder how long it will take for this woman to start getting death threats.

No death threats but she sure knows who to change her mind:

A former classmate of Christine Blasey Ford tells NPR that she does not know if an alleged sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh took place as she first suggested on social media.

"That it happened or not, I have no idea," Cristina King Miranda told NPR's Nina Totenberg. "I can't say that it did or didn't."

That's different from what Miranda wrote Wednesday in a now-deleted Facebook post that stated definitively,
"The incident DID happen, many of us heard about it in school.”

Miranda's new comments are a significant development in what remains a largely "she said, he said" account of events between Ford and Kavanaugh.

She will be questioned by at least 3 men who publicly state they do not believe her. (Hatch, Cronyn, Graham) All of the 11 believe the vote should take place regardless. She is denied witnesses, and investigations. Not a level playing field in any way.

Do you people read?

I haven't heard any of those three say they do not believe her, so I did just a bit of checking...about Graham. All I found was an interview he had with Martha Maccallum of Fox News two days ago. You can read a transcript here: Sen. Lindsey Graham: I want Ford to be heard | Fox News Nowhere in that interview does he say he doesn't believe her.

Perhaps you have some other quotes and sources?

“It’s a 36-year-old allegation, its a serious allegation and everyone needs to be heard but also people need to defend themselves. I’m going to look at what she said about Brett Kavanaugh in high school and compare that to everything else I know about Brett Kavanaugh, including his denial and I will make the decision. Here’s what I want your audience to know: If Ms. Ford really did not want to come forward, never intended to come forward, never planned to come forward, why did she pay for a polygraph in August and why did she hire a lawyer in August if she never intended to do what she is doing? And who paid for it?”
Lindsey Graham

I suggest that questioning why she took a polygraph and who was paying for it? indicates Graham is publicly calling the woman's credibility into question. If you do not, I am not so very surprised.

Thank you for this running list.

The article lists Graham as among three Republicans who have spoken out. Graham does not call her a liar in what is quoted, nor does Cornyn or Hatch.

They are long term Senators, very capable of publicly denying her credibility while avoiding the actual term "liar." They have all indicated what side they are on prior to any testimony.

LOL!!

First it was calling her a liar. Then it was her honesty. Now it's her credibility.

And all Graham has done is ask that she come to the Senate, tell her story and answer some questions. All he wants is some answers.

My judgment...your contention that Graham has called her a liar is bull****.

Do you want to try with the other two?

Actually it is not worth the time. You find it acceptable that a victim of a crime be called out publicly by the Senators that are supposedly looking into the matter, and base your support of that by stating they didn't use the actual word "liar".

She came out publicly. They didn't call her out. And yes...they are looking into the matter, as they should.

Don't you support their efforts to find out what her story is all about? Or, maybe you think they should just send Kavanaugh packing based on the unsubstantiated word of one woman?

Yes...given your obvious hyper partisan bias and your lack of facts, you should probably not try to support your contention about the other two.

Time to move on, eh?

Amy Barret here we come. A better choice anyway and sure to send the left into cataclysmic dysphoria.

I predicted in another thread that Kavanaugh would withdraw; with the lukewarm POTUS statement and the “coming out of the woodwork” circus gaining steam, I reiterate my prediction.........film @ 2300hrs.

So because Judge wrote a book, Wasted: Tales of a GenX Drunk, that details debauched teen beach parties, what Ford claims happened at a beach house?

. Ford has used the term "gathering." If this was a "party," where were the other girls? Why hasn't Ford named any of them? Isn't it likely that she went to parties with a girlfriend? (Who drove her to wherever? How did she get home? Ford doesn't know.)

The beach house as described in Judge's book, Wasted' could very well be the same house where the assault occurred because it fits the description, location, timeline and their ages as described in Ford's account. Judge said in his book that most of the teens from the boys and girls prep schools hung out at the Eastern shore during summer break and that's probably why Ford was wearing a bathing suit when she was assaulted. Or did you think she just wore a bathing suit for no reason?

"....Judge said during the summer in high school he and his classmates rented a beach house in Maryland where they drank heavily and 'chased girls without fear of curfew or punishment.'

'Without parents, without even a serious chaperone, we were allowed to enter into a different reality. We ate whatever and wherever we wanted, got drunk at night and in the middle of the day, and chased girls without fear of curfew or punishment,' wrote Judge.

Several Catholic girls' schools also had groups down [at the beach] – on one side of our place was a group from Georgetown Visitation, on the other a group from the School of the Holy Child in Maryland.'

Mark Judge is standing next to Kavanaugh in the upper right of the photo.

Ford described it as a "small party". So there must've been other people there or Judge wouldn't have needed to turn up the music in the bedroom so the people downstairs couldn't hear her scream. When Ford said when she was finally able to get away...she ran across the hall and locked herself into the bathroom until she heard Kavanaugh and Judge finally leave and then she opened the door and ran down the stairs and out of the house. Now if she was staying at the beach with a group girls from Georgetown Visitation as Judge described above, then she probably didn't need a drive home because she was most likely within walking distance.

So then 15 year olds do go to parties and drink then? Then why would you question her being at the party, drinking with them?

And just because you don't know about it happening, doesn't mean it didn't. Even if it didn't, that doesn't mean that it doesn't or hasn't happened at other parties.

why is her social footprint now harder to find then Bigfoot's? why is her HS yearbook tougher to get than the ICBM launch codes? Did she really brag-as a senior-about preferring younger boys? Did her yearbook brag about drunken debauchery with male strippers?

"Could be" doesn't work for me. Ford says she doesn't know how she arrived to the party or how she got home. What you're doing here is speculating. But since you already are, have you wondered what kind of party it was with only one girl (or, possibly two, although we don't know who yet)? How do you know that Judge turned up the music (for whatever reason)?
