What has happened to music is unbelievable. I know, I know, my dad was saying the same thing when the Beatles replaced Perry Como, but this is ****ing different because both the Beatles and Perry Como knew what music was. The only argument here was about style, but at least we knew the arguments were oriented around music itself. Not any more.

Let's look at music by black people first. Whatever happened to Motown, the blues, and jazz? It got replaced by hip hop, most of which is not even music, but poetry about bitches, money, drugs, and violence.

Now that I've gotten black peoples' music out of the way, it's time to pick on you white mother****ers. As bad as most hip hop is, it's still orders of magnitude better than the insipid no-brain **** from the likes of Justin Bieber. At least, when I listen to hip-hop, I may shake my head, but you won't see me running to find a red hot iron to thrust into my ears.

That's all.

As long as it's not Justin Bieber, there is hope for you.

I hate Justin Bieber. Neither do I like any of those cringy boy band groups like One Direction.

Maybe it's because I'm not attracted to them, or that I'm not really into that kind of music, but I think it's safe to say that pretty much all of that stuff is garbage. So is the majority of rap now, since after Chief Keef (one of the worst rappers ever) blew up back in 2012, most of everyone decided to stop caring about the lyrics, and focus more on whether the beat "goes hard" or not.

But there's always a few diamonds to find in the heap of trash.

The genre that keeps coming back to make me cringe is disco - now called EDM. Not all of it it bad, but... well, most techno is worse, what am I complaining about.

Hey, Barry Manilow is back in the news. As if no one could have guessed he's gay.

I don't listen to a lot of hip-hop, but I don't listen to a lot of country, either.

You know, Justin Beiber is not worse really than 99 % of all music. And that includes most of what you listen to. He is just a handy punching bag for people who want to feel superior. Me, I don't listen to him, but I feel no need to brag about it, nor to complain about him, much as I feel no need to brag about not listening to hippy music, or country, or oldies, and dubstep, or whatever.

You really aren't being fair here in your comment about those who "want to feel superior." And I think it's okay to dislike a particular genre so long as you're able to fairly acknowledge that there is at least one percent of that genre that's at least marginally "okay" if not pretty darned good.

And speaking of "good" music, I'm not being "superior" or bragging here, but I really, really, really don't understand why more people don't listen to baroque. Much of it is marvelous.
