A presidential self-pardon would make the Constitution meaningless

First, shouldnt there be some charges?

They COULD just make leftists heads explode. Trump steps down. Pence becomes president. Pence issues full pardon. Pence appoints Trump VP. Pence then steps down and Trump becomes President again. Trump appoints Pence as VP. back to making America great...

;)

So Pence could murder Trump, end any investigation into that murder and then pardon himself ?

Recently, President Trump claimed that he had the “absolute right” to pardon himself. His lawyer Rudy Giuliani made this claim even more ludicrous. He said Trump could commit murder, pardon himself, and go on as if nothing ever happened.

They’re wrong.

The Constitution isn’t a video game, and Trump can’t break the law, buy himself “Magic Self-Pardoning Powers” from some pixilated wizard, and start all over again.

Pardoning is a process that by definition involves 2 people, not one. There has to be a pardoner & a pardonee. Pardoning oneself means you are acting as both judge & jury & that makes no legal sense.

Rudy is a lawyer? He must be getting senile. Murder is a state crime, not a Federal crime, unless it involved assassinating a Justice of the SCOTUS or someone involved in Government. A Prresident can't pardon state crimes. Rudy is flat wrong.

I have been meaning to start a thread where I ask those Trump supporters who believe in Original Intent when it comes to the law if they think the founders intent was that a president could just pardon himself. I get that congress can remove him, but that isn't the question I have.

What do you not get about Trumps and Giulanis answers on this question? Trump doesnt need to, just plain wont...but under a strict interpretation of our Constitution, that magnificent document clearly asserts that, except in cases of impeachment...

That indicates they very well MUST have thought about an executive in very dicey situations... together they were wise beyond current measure...had there been an intent otherwise they would have so stated.

So let it be written, so let it be done---Moses (played by honorary founding conservative, Charlton Heston) . Let our president go.

Of course! But what happens when Trump cones back two days later? (Obviously, he'd ressurect faster than Jesus)
