$840 Billion Medicare Cut

22 trillion in debt, have to cut somewhere!

God forbid we wouldn't pay H&K or Remington Arms or someone on a blank check to develop a firearm that is never gonna see use on a battlefield, right?

Or that we would simply pass on those last 6 F-35's or something.

It HAS to be Medicare.

Brilliant.

I know, what scum. And a liar. Business as usual.

Colbert did a montage last night of The Donald during the campaign swearing he wouldnt touch Medicare.

Horse****. The Republicans have had a hard on for those programs for decades. "Wither on the vine" and all that. Trump is just the latest incarnation.

Well, the onus is on you guys now to justify an $845 billion expense. But it is surprising that with all this talk of Medicare For All and the costs of healthcare there’s so much resistance to cost reduction by finding ways to tell for-profit providers to pound sand with their billing practices.

A single payer system will have more power to push costs down.

We don’t have to wait for single payer to do that. Congress could legislate price controls like our friends up north and across the pond do tomorrow. So don’t act as though we must remit the $845 billion extortion money to the for-providers until the government takes it all.

Might as well address the problem full on instead of pissing around with half measures that don't even adequately address the symptoms, IMO.

Well, if all you’re planning to do is change who writes the checks then you’re not accomplishing much of anything. And it isn’t a good reason to waste money now.

The programs are running out of money
Yes, I know - that's why I said "marginally self-funding. Presidents don't cut or raise spending on them.

it would be accomplishing what most of the rest of the first world accomplished decades ago.

Not really because what you and others seem to forget is that they didn’t just slam everyone into single payer and walk away. They nationalized healthcare providers and have mountains of direct price control regulations and if you want private for profit care then you have to pay for that yourself and/or purchase supplementary private insurance. Those are the things that keep costs lower by comparison and nobody has proposed that here.

“Love of God” and support for Trump are mutually exclusive positions.

Both positions are opposed by Obamanites who despise patriotic Americans they accuse of clinging to God and guns.

there are a lot of possible combinations of systems that are working more efficiently in other countries.

Yep. Let the rich raid the treasury, and then cut the programs that we've paid into for our entire careers.

How are they raiding the treasury when they are PAYING 40% of all income tax? Nearly a trillion dollars.

No we dont because not taking money doesnt cost anything. Spending does and its up up up. Revenue is just fine.

Did you notice, revenue is down from 2016 to 2019, and the 'up' is known as 'projection'. That means it's smoke and mirrors right now. Do be honest.

Please. They control much of the wealth, as well. Trickle down is a joke. Wake up.

LAFF.

It's as if there were piles of money on the ground called income, with billionaires and millionaires surreptitiously getting to those piles first and taking their unfair shares.

Far from it. It's how the world works,.
We know this because we know what entrepreneurs and businesses are aggressively competing for on a daily basis: dollars that are exchangeable for real resources. When the rich “hide” their wealth from politicians that means they’re revealing their wealth to a private sector that’s desperately in search of resources to grow. The left love to talk about jobs and opportunity (as does a frequently confused right), but none connect what are simple dots: companies and jobs are always and everywhere an effect of investment. Always. What the federal government “loses” is gained by private actors eager to turn ideas into businesses, and existing businesses into ones that are much more prosperous. Thank goodness for those who “hide” their wealth such that governments “lose” what was never their money to begin with.

Save it for the tourists.

It's probably back loaded--they'll protect their dying old white men, but screw anyone 50 or younger.

You got to be rich too, our government is by the Corporate Elite, of the Corporate Elite, for the Corporate Elite.

The left's main emphais is what to do wealth after it's created. Mostlly take it and redistribute it( hey lots of votes in that! ) They have no clue ( read this thread if you doubt me) about the far, far , more difficult problem. How to create it.

Fox News will not talk about the cuts as that is Trumps political base in the first place. Study what Fox News will say and what Fox News will not say.

Simple minded is more like it. You forget that more people are reaching Medicare age every year and that increase means more money is needed for everyone to have coverage. Cutting Medicare means there will not be enough money for the program to function as it should. That is the simple truth and Trump has been caught in yet another lie he told to defraud voters.

Yep..

but here is the thing..you liberals make the same lie.

Medicare is in trouble financially.. it can be fixed.. but it has serious issues.

And yet you liberals 1. Claim we can add millions of people onto the system who will take out of medicare but have not had years of paying in.. and there will be no ramifications to that.
2. Claim that you will get reductions of the cost from this single payer..but there will be no reaction from providers when they take a massive pay cut.

I do not agree with democrats that spending more government money stimulates the economy without causing short and long term problems to the health of the economy.

And yet history proves you wrong.

Bush's $600 tax refund was a one time jump start, food stamps are a program that works for all levels of the economy...
