24th Annual Crime Gun Destruction symbolic nonsense?

Some people who commit crimes are nuts. That's a fact. Others did have abusive upbringings. You can't ignore facts just because you don't like them.

Yes, they are a tool, and if the state wants to destroy said tool that is the state's perogative.

Firearms are the only tool placed on a pedestal by people. You don't have anyone going around pushing for more people to carry hammers or saws around.

the main reason why many on the left wants to ban guns is because they perceive most of us who use guns legally as voters who vote against the leftwing agenda. the crime control bs is just that-its pandering to stupid or ignorant people but its not a legitimate crime control effort

The state is free to do with a tool which has been misused whatever it pleases.

not really. if the owner of the gun is an innocent owner and it was stolen from him, the state should be held liable and maybe even punished if it destroys the property when it knows of an innocent owner.

Humans do cause a rise in the pollutant levels when they burn. Something to do with all that fat.

we need phasers then. environmentally friendly vaporizers

And many on the right place firearms on a pedestal, like I've repeatedly said, rather than treat them like what they are-- a tool. And if you've proven that you can't handle the responsiblity of using a tool, there's no reason you should be allowed to do so anyway.

If someone fails to secure their tools properly, especially a tool where theft will likely cost others their lives, then they can't really complain about what happens after that.

do you feel the same way about stolen cars? I think you just don't like gun owners because of their perceived politics. if someone breaks into a home and steals a gun, you blame the victim. Pathetic

And I think you just want to place some sort of spiritual emphasis on something that's just a tool. It's not a man, it's not a god, and if you can't even keep something one hell of a lot smaller than a car secure---- and a lot of people seem to have problems with doing so--- that's a serious problem.

Define "secure".

Why shouldn't any means of self preservation be placed onto pedestals. Especially when one of tools of self preservation are enshrined in our countries constitutions. I can assure you if firearms ever became illegal, and the only means of defense would be to carry around a sword, people would!

Nearly 5K Firearms To Be Destroyed In Annual Gun Melt « CBS Los Angeles

California has some screwed up economic practices! I saw at least six, Ruger 1022 rifles in the original video that the city could have resold back to "LAWFUL" gun owners. Those would have easily fetched around $175 each totaling $1050! Reselling just the Ruger 10/22's I saw would allowed the city to purchase 261, ten foot steel rebar rods @ $3.99 each (Lowes.com), to be used on infrastructure projects, way more than they are going to get from melting all of the firearms down. I guess its more socially acceptable to melt down the firearms, than melting down the criminals who choose to pick up the gun, and use it unlawfully.

Despite California's anti-2nd amendment laws California buys around a million guns a year. I can't imagine their annual gun melt making any difference what so ever.

some thugs will use Gun buy pack schemes as a way of ditching a gun that has a body on it and use the money to buy a clean one

In most cases, its ignorant widows getting rid of a deceased husband's guns-often at far less what they could get from a reputable dealership

I've taken advantage of my cities "gun buyback" many times. I get flea market finds all the time on the cheap. (usually under 100 OFTEN under 50.) I take off usable parts to these rusted out bent non working firearms and either sell them or keep them for hobby use. Then the unusable frames to a buy back getting 50 for long gun 75 for handguns.

We don't have buy-backs in Colorado anymore. With our UBC you have to have an FFL to conduct the transaction and none will do so.
