2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament

I did not think Duke would win but after the ACC tourney I was swept up in Zion and put them on top of my bracket.

Right now I'd take Gonzaga who I did not have getting past FSU.

I have Virginia because I always align my championship pick with a rooting interest.

Maybe you have a different cable system but the games I have seen Duke has squeaked by. A win is a win but those are tight games that could have gone either way depending which was the wind blew.

Somehow, though, when the big game is on the line, the wind tends to fill Duke's sails.

Duke was picked both last year and this year to go wire to wire at #1.

There is no denying Duke has underachieved.

And personally, I have been very taken aback by coach K the last two years. Especially last year.

I know you get upset when someone disagrees with you but it is what it is. Not everyone is always gonna agree with you. It's not personal.

Well, if that's where you are trying to go, one might say the same thing about you. I was not the one who hugely over-reacted. And it is funny that *you* are the one bringing it up. You just won't let go, huh? What does that tell you? Me, I said I'd be no longer replying to you in that context, and I haven't, but *you* had to bring that disagreement back, didn't you? Wow! LOL

And I didn't make it personal. I'm talking about all the pundits [see, I said "people" which implies a plural, a collective, not anything personal against any one person here as you're implying] who kept predicting Duke's imminent demise, on TV, on blogs, and here. Still, we've won all games that mattered, so far.

Yes, sure, maybe we'll lose to Michigan St tomorrow. They are a great team and I respect them. But what I said before still applies: it's hard to bet against a team that has Zion. The guy is clutch.

Not always the expected #1 team wins it all. This is an unpredictable game with many great teams and great athletes. Any given Sunday, things can go wrong for any team.

For us, Duke fans, the important part is that we're winning, and advancing, close games or not. So, no, I'm not worried yet. We'll see.

Maybe what people fail to see when they suspect that something is missing at Duke, is the fact that these are a bunch of freshmen. So, if anything, they've over-achieved.

Besides, even if we lose next, I'd say that this season has been successful. With a bunch of freshmen, we won the championship of the toughest league of them all (the ACC), and we're in the Elite 8. That's not bad. And we beat our main rivals when it mattered, the ACC semis, and we are in the Elite 8 and they are not. We already have reasons to celebrate. What comes next, if we are even more successful, is a bonus.

With all respect, you are hypersensitive and reading into things.

I have not missed this. In fact, even in this thread I have referenced this.

By the way, for anybody who might think I'm "upset" - really? I'm in heaven. We just won a Sweet 16 game against a tough ACC opponent, and UNC lost their game. It doesn't get much better than that. :lamo

I said "people", again. Whoa, who is the hypersensitive one? Stop taking everything personally, then accusing others of being hypersensitive. Newsflash: not everything is about you.

Now, I have to go, I have some errands to run. Have a nice day. Peace.

You are impossible.

The Elite Eight is set, and we have three 1-seeds still dancing. Here's how we'd reseed the remaining field.

OK, they finally get it. I like this:

"It doesn't matter how the game is going -- ugly, close, blowout, thriller, physical, whatever -- Zion Williamson and Duke continue to win. In spite of the close shaves, the Blue Devils remain the team to beat in our eyes."

Really enjoying March Madness. But does anyone else find the AT&T “Just OK is not OK” commercials of the actors playing two sportcasters to have worn out any potential laugh from their hijinks.

They remind something high schoolers would use at an school assembly.

You are impossible.

Am I? Why do you just see the negative? In that same message you chose not to quote the part where I said "have a nice day. Peace." And I meant it. I wasn't being sarcastic (just like when I said "thanks for the advice; it was nice talking with you." I wanted to bring down the silly tension. I ultimately have nothing against you.

Can we reset and go back to some civil discussions? We have some differences of opinion, but so what? People are different. I can respect you opinion, and hopefully you can respect mine, even when we disagree.

Again: peace!

Yes, I don't like that one. I like the one with the brake specialist, and the one with the doctor; those are pretty funny.

AT&T as a company sucks balls. Their internet is horrible. They are the ones who are "just OK" or worse. But some of their ads are good. Some are not, like the one you quoted.

------------

Another thing that I believe these advertisers don't get, is that when they repeat over and over their ads, the same ad, every time there is a commercial break, to the point of saturation, the potential customers get turned off.

I mean, I tend to react like "stop bothering me with this repetitious crap. Just to punish you, I won't patronize your business, ever. You've just lost me as a potential customer."

Do these people really think that by repeating their crap over and over, they'll get more customers???

This is why an advertising campaign like the medieval Budweiser one is much superior. They keep changing the commercials, introducing new dimensions, keeping it fresh and varied, so the customers actually enjoy the ads.

These same ads that repeat over and over every 5 minutes, probably backfire.

good 1st half...

Yes, terrific! I'm rooting for Texas Tech, the underdogs, just for the fact that they are the underdogs. So far, very good game with lots of lead changes, lots of 3-pointers; pretty exciting.

Yes, I like the Budweiser commercials too.

I love any commercial with Sir Charles in them. He just cracks me up

some really good basketball being played....

Great game to watch.

2 chances to go up 7 and they did not.... bad omen...

now they are in a dog fight

If we get there. Texas Tech is insanely good. Top defense in the country versus top offense.

Sorry buddy, didn't mean to jinx you. Great year though.

Great win by Texas Tech. Their D is good enough to beat anyone.
I hated to see Gonzaga lose because I think they are coached and play the right way.
On the other hand, Texas Tech carries on the principles and playing style of Bob Knight, and I admire that.
On a down note, Texas Tech benefited from the worst missed call in the tournament.

Texas Tech-Gonzaga was one of the best tournament games, so far. Wow! What a game! So many lead changes, so much energy, so many fabulous plays, so exciting! I support neither of these teams, but just for the love of the sport, I was pretty thrilled!

What happened? I wasn't paying undivided attention to the game. I watched most of it but not all of it, dealing simultaneously with some other issues. So, would you please describe the missed call?

That was an unbelievable missed call.

The guy steps out of bound and then jumps up to toss the ball back in. It is a simple rule: You are on the court from where your feet left the ground. And in this case he was completely out of bounds.

Even if the ref called it right I doubt it would have changed the outcome. This was Texas's day.

Virginia looks completely rattled but is right in it.... interesting
