2019-2020 NHL Thread - Ice Hockey Baby!!!

Mini-streak had to end at some point, and in reality I'd rather the Flyers lose to Coyotes than to Ottawa or Red Wings.

Question is, now can the Flyers bounce right back and beat Ottawa this Saturday?

On paper it should be a slam dunk. In real life.... guess I'll know in about 36 hours or so.

So TK is out for some undefined period of time. :(

OUCH!!!

Somebody forgot to tell TK not to watch your pass, and to keep your eyes up and head on a swivel.

Hopefully he's not out for too long.

Flyers meet the Senators again on December 21st. Might be a real fun game to watch. :gunsmilie

Flyers have definitely moved away from the "Broad Street Bullies" of old, but I'd guess there's at least one or two guys somewhere in the organization
who might make a special appearance. Maybe.

Coaches are dropping like flies. Dallas fired theirs due to "unprofessional conduct"(reportedly unrelated to the abuse of players thing going on), and San Jose fired theirs due to being losers who can't keep the other team from scoring. And that is just this week.

Like that term "special appearance".

I know we are suppose to be fading out fighting from the NHL...… but damn, that is what set them apart from all other sports.

Unlike the other sports in hockey if you keep giving cheap shots at opponents you might find yourself squaring up with their 'special appearance "player and the refs are going to let stand back and watch.

Plus there in nothing to liven up a boring game like a donnybrook on the ice.

Holy hell, here is a depressing read: Ex-Bruin Tim Thomas details brain damage from concussion

Thomas dropped the puck for the Bruins-Capitals game on Wednesday night and said it was the first NHL game he had attended since retiring.

"I couldn't follow the game anymore," Thomas said. "My brain wasn't functioning well enough to be able to keep up with the game, so I sat out in the woods for a few years. I didn't watch much hockey. There's not much TV out there."

Flyers' Oskar Lindblom diagnosed with rare bone cancer, to miss season

Philadelphia Flyers forward Oskar Lindblom has been diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, and is expected to miss the rest of the 2019-20 season, the team announced Friday.

Lindblom, 23, will undergo further testing and evaluation next week and then begin treatment. The cancer was diagnosed by specialists at the University of Pennsylvania.

Sad news.

Watching the Devils and Colorado. Taylor Hall being held out as "a precaution". Not sure what that means but I wonder if there is a trade pending.

Both teams are denying a trade as of now, but you got to wonder...

Taylor Hall to Arizona for 2 draft picks, including a first round, and 3 prospects, including one very good defensive prospect.

Kovulchuk has left the building.

Peter Laviolette out as coach of Preds. No replacement has been named yet. Kinda had to be done in hopes of salvaging the season.

John Hynes recently let go by the Devils is the replacement.

Ray Shero let go as GM. More importantly the Leafs are getting pummeled by the Panthers. The Devils are holding their own and then some against the hot Lightning after trouncing the Caps.

More musical chairs in the NHL. Gallant out, DeBoer in for Vegas.

Looks like Gallant to the Red Wings. More musical chairs.

Last game before All-Star break.

Flyers SHUT OUT Penguins in Philly.

Stupid commentators still frothing at the mouth over Crosby all friggin game even though he, and his entire team, were held scoreless.

Mike Milbury can suck it!!!

Ovetchin moves into 8th place on the all time goals list.

Oilers/Flames tonight, both goalies got game misconducts. Never have I seen that happen...

Not sure what's to "like" about Commodore's comments vis-à-vis Babcock. Like I said, I'm not a big fan of Babcock's coaching style and what I see as an inflated record, but I've never known anyone here in Toronto or elsewhere claim that he's evil or a bad person. In fact, after the Commodore comments, several people, civilians, have come forward to challenge those comments and talk about all the charity work and individual attention Babcock has paid to seriously ill children at our Sick Kid's Hospital and they give glowing reports about his character and decency. I'm guessing Commodore didn't like Babcock's coaching style or his stubborn attention to his way or the highway mentality - lots of people are critics of authority but few take it to such a vindictive and personal level. Then again, seeing as how you are all for Islanders' fans making the Tavares move incredibly personal, I'm not surprised you'd cheer Commodore on.

Flyers did a GREAT job Saturday night of holding Ovi scoreless whilst also pummeling the crap out of the Caps 7-2 on the Caps home ice!!!!
