2-0. They are now the most decorated team in English football history.

Fair effort. Congrats.

Had the Ajax team had more experience, then they would have torn ManUre apart. The young age of the Ajax team showed clearly during the game, but ManUre did not play a good game.

Did you know that there was a 5 year gap in the average age of the Ajax team vs the ManUre team?... biggest ever in a finals.

You'll never win anything with a squad full of kids. Balance Pete. You need a bit of balance.

So what? You mention that as if there were some virtue in putting up an inexperienced squad of players.

That is not true. Ajax for one, won the CL with a young squad .. average age of 23.

Still does not change the fact, that ManUre played poorly yesterday and were lucky (especially the first goal). The Ajax team cost 15 million, the ManUre cost over 14 times more.

No it was a fact that is all. That makes it impressive that Ajax are in the final no? That Ajax team has some of the super stars of the future...De Ligt looks to be a top defender soon.. considering he is only 16 and playing regularly. Names to look out for.. Jairo Riedewald, Amin Younes, Kasper Dolberg, Abdelhak Nouri, Matthijs de Ligt, Justin Kluivert... and that is just the first team. There are some coming up the ranks that are creating a lot of buzz. Of course I doubt that Ajax can keep them for long, and they will go to other clubs around Europe.

Yes I am excited at the prospects of young players at any club.. even that cheater Rashford. But it is amazing how one club can produce so many potential great football players.

Barca fan calling Rashford a cheat is rich lol.

Awful game yesterday though, Ajax were completely overawed by the occasion and tactically outclassed

Did Gerrard manage to stay in his feet? ;)

I hate you.

:2razz:

A Steven Gerrard-inspired first half laid the platform for a comprehensive 3-0 win by Liverpool over Sydney FC in a friendly on Wednesday night in front of 72,892 fans. The blistering Reds were three goals up at the break largely thanks to Gerrard’s majestic display at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. After a rousing rendition of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” followed by a minute’s silence for those who lost their lives in Manchester, Liverpool made a mockery of arriving on the day of the game by starting in completely dominating fashion.

With a tireless Gerrard pulling the strings in a deep lying role, the Reds were soon two goals up with their movement and rotations giving Sydney all sorts of problems. Gerrard and Carragher were replaced in the first minute of the second half to huge applause.

Good times.

So you say that Barcelona cheats? Exactly how do they cheat? Let me guess, you are going to bring up the Chealski game from a decade ago again?

But how about this cheating bastard?

Then again he did learn it from the cheater of all cheaters.. Mourinho. Funny how so many of his players are known divers... Ronaldo (granted also before Real, but still at ManUre), Drogba (master class there) and now Rashford.

Hope next season that the FA gives retroactive bans to these guys. Delli Alli has also done it, and that is the future of English football..

No one needs to go back that far.

Messi one.. there was clear contact and intent to stopping him. Penalty. Look at it again, the Valencia player clearly looks at Messi and sticks out his arm/shoulder to stop Messi. A clear penalty any day.

Neymar one.. every ref I have seen, Spanish, German, English, Danish says it is a clear penalty. Is the PSG player falling out of control sure.. but that is no excuse in football. A player slipping on wet grass and taking out another player is still a foul.

Rashford one, every ref says it is a clear dive. Only one who did not see it was the ref on the pitch it seems. Hell you should have heard the Danish commentators disgust when they saw it. Brian Laudrup was saying things like "he should be ashamed". It reminded me of a famous Danish player (John Faxe Jensen) diving in the midfield in attempt to get a free kick... 10 seconds after the ball was gone. It was pathetic then and is pathetic now with Rashford.

And no this has nothing to do with Rashford being English. I am equally pissed if any player so obviously cheats in a game. Remember when Rivaldo dived in the 2002 World Cup? Disgusting and he was ridiculed back then.. not enough imo. Or the De Rossi dive against Paraguay.. There are plenty of stars out there.

Hey you could at least brought up the Suarez "dive" against PSG.. it was not, as the arm was clearly on Suarez shoulder.. did he make the most of it? Of course, that is his job, but dive? No. Do I like that kind of theatrics? no, but it is still far from the De Rossi dive and Rashford dives. Rashford was falling before he was any where near the goalie for **** sake..

No one mentions Alba from four days ago?

Most hysterical dive I've ever seen.

Anyone watch the final on Saturday?

Real Madrid are unstoppable right now and what an amazing 12 months for Ronaldo.

Are they really that good? Or is it that everyone else is quite poor? It hasn't really been a vintage season on any level.

Yes they absolutely are that good.
And so young, so many huge talents that will serve the club for years.

As a Madrid fan I'm very optimistic. These are the times that make all those Guardiola years worth sufferring through.

Bit of both for me! This season in general has been poor however Real have so many good options and that midfield with Kroos, Isco, Modiric is just unreal.

I do think Europe needs the Premiership teams to step up and start being competitive again, the competition has missed it.

Maybe it's a bit early, but people clearly want to discuss how the new season might pan out, so here it is. Now then, last year we had a 0/19 correct predictions of the Prem champions. Can we do better this time? Have at it footie fans!

Noticed that Pete has been quiet on here since Real won? ;)

Not much to say, the season is over. Real are CL winners, not much to discuss about that.. maybe why Ramos is an asshole and now almost hated as much as Pepe. Did they deserve the win? Well they did win.. with or without help.. Ask an A. Madrid fan if Real deserve anything these days... lets leave it at that.

I feel sorry for Buffon, as I had hoped that he finally could win the CL trophy... no one is more deserving in my opinion.

Now focus is on the next season. Too early to make any predictions what so ever.. as transfers will have an impact, changes in managers and so on.

You always take the bait Pete ;)

England win the under 20s World Cup !!!

Cue Pete to tell us how they'll never get a chance playing for Prem teams.

Great game! I watched it. England were hanging on a bit towards the end, but the keeper was terrific. In the end they were a bit more disciplined than the Venezuelans and tight in defence. Deserved win and I'm very proud of them.
