You're one of those drama llama panic queens who want to ditch the manager at first sign of trouble. Fortunately, the current City administration has more balls than that. Klopp had a much worse season at Liverpool last year than Pep's having at City, and the Liverpool owners stuck with him. They are reaping some rewards this season. Football's not for lily-livered, panicky milk-sops. I'd say to the City owners; have some guts and see it through. I'm almost certain they will.
Of course, much of this discussion comes down to your irrational dislike of Pep, which you made clear before he even joined the club. You're the definition of an unreliable narrator.
Now, now. I am just pointing out if he doesn't get Man City into CL there is no real reason to keep him there. Man City won't be able to rebuild the team with players he needs in the summer transfer window as they dropped tonnes of money already and with Fair Play rules, also wage bill rules also hamper that ability. Man City is gonna be in a pickle if they don't get CL next year. They need that revenue.
Two different situations, Klopp was hired to turn around Liverpool. Klopp took his role on October 8th, didn't have a summer transfer window in which work. Klopp also took over a club that dropped 7 points (realistically should have won under Rodgers) before he even got there. So this was really Klopp's year to prove it.. and he's doing it. So it's not as simple as you think.
I am only holding this position about Pep because of the following reasons you mention in your OWN POST
If Pep wins a cup this season, or even just gets to the CL semis, he'll keep his job. I'm just waiting to see whether he's as good a coach as the hype had us believe. So far, I'm not impressed. He's replaced a good goalkeeper with a very mediocre one; he's done nothing to improve the defence and he's thus far failed to identify his strongest line-up in MF and FW. I was very happy with Pellegrini. Under Guardiola City has gone backwards.
'Member that? So I am holding Pep to a standard, as what you laid out as a Man City fan. Yet I am lily-livered? Panicky milk-sop?
Trust me, I am not panicky about this stuff. I thought Swansea was stupid in firing Bob Bradley who was put into a **** position by owners (all their managers this year were). It's just a bad team. His lingo issues was typical of the British press and Fans (err, supporters) and blowing it out of whack. Of course he's gonna use American lingo every once in a while, he's an American. Personally, I would have been more forceful in saying we know "I am an American. I know you don't respect the American game but I've had success in Europe and we have the same goal.. and that's to win". If he said that, he probably wouldn't have been fired and given until May.
I am still pissed the USMNT firing of Jurgen Klinsmann. Klinsmann had been dealing with a very shallow player pool due to injuries. Any other USMNT manager would have hard time getting results too. What his firing really came down to is the Klinsmann's believed if you are one of US's promising stars or stars, you NEED to be playing in Europe. As the American press called it.. Europe Uber Alles... and it shattered American's patriotic self belief in the horrible league called MLS. Klinsmann pissed off alot of US fans and the MLS because it was his last resort in getting players. I absolutely understand why. US based players are not technically gifted. It's equatable to playing in League 1 or League 2 in England. It showed in 2014 World Cup.
I have no problem with Pep. But I recognize Pep was give two very good teams to work with at Barca and Bayern in leagues where those two teams have at least 50% or greater to win League titles. England was always gonna be the test Pep would have to face as England is a different beast. The game is hugely different. High work rates and to quote Jack Charlton, "keep them under pressure" mentality. Front to back, there is always pressure on the ball. You don't get that in Spain or Germany. Pep is not Jose Mourinho who proved himself in Portugal at Porto with less resources.
