He doesn't make any saves, ever it's like he's afraid of the ball. I'm not the only one either, he's getting ripped apart for those first 2 goals.

Okay.. saying that he was "ripped apart" for the second goal is absolutely ludicrous. It is a bullet and he does get his hands on it. As for the first one, he cant be at fault for the piss poor defending. Let me guess, you blame him for the 4th goal as well right?

Wups Arsenal.. well played Everton!

A while since I have seen City play this well against one of the big teams.. fully deserved win over a piss poor Arsenal. Did Arsenals season end in December instead of the normal February?

The proverbial game of two halves. City were the piss-poor team in the first half. I'm not sure Pep grasps the importance of his defensive problems, which is odd given that he was a defensive midfielder himself. It was a priority for his attention when he arrived in July and what did he do? Swapped a really good keeper for a mediocre one and paid a fortune for an over-hyped central defender who he's had to drop before Christmas. Not impressed.

That said, the improvement in the second half was impressive and I'll have to give him much of the credit for making the key changes that gave Sterling and Sané the chance to shine. De Bruyne brilliant once again and even the defence didn't look too stretched. Yep, Arsenal were poor after the break, but that was City's doing.

And here is why Messi should be the best player in the world instead of Ronaldo...

Goal nr. 2 and 3.. but goal nr 2 is.. wow.

Wonder if City or PSG will ever pay the 200+ million to buy him. Maybe it will be the Chinese..

Ronaldo led Portugal to its first international title meanwhile Messi struggled in a depleted Copa America.

Ross Barkley a very lucky boy. Never seen such a blatant, stone-cold red card as his challenge on Henderson in tonight's Liverpool derby. That could have ended Henderson's career.

Pepe and the other defensive workers had more to do with that, than Ronaldo. And the Copa America was hardly depleted....

Personally I thought Griezman should have gotten the award this year.

Worst part is the BBC pundits and Sky pundits trying to excuse him, but crucifying Roj and others for doing similar tackles. All should have gotten red pure and simple.

Well, you obviously didn't watch Match of the Day, or listen to the radio commentary because Kevin Kilbane, Charlie Adam and Robbie Savage were all saying that it should have been a straight red card. Who were you listening to?

Match of the Day 2 last night. Both Kevin and Charlie were trying to make excuses for him. The commentators on Sky the same. They start out saying horrific, and lucky boy and end up saying basically it was not that bad. IMO it was worse than the Rojo tackle this week, since he actually hits his opponent, but both should be straight red cards.

Regardless it was a good game.

That's not what I heard.

both should be straight red cards.
Yes, they should but neither Barkley nor Rojo received one. Your attempt to make it look as if an English player is receiving preferential treatment to an Argentine doesn't really wash.

Regardless it was a good game.
I disagree. It was distinctly lacking in quality. The first half was a snore-fest.

Pep looked a mess on his post match interview. Pressure of the English Xmas period clearly getting to him.

Clearly the grumpipants approach is working, if tonight's demolition of West Ham's anything to go by. Even John Stones had a blindingly good game and scored his first City goal.

I'm hoping a performance of such command and virtuosity can really give us a boost for our league fixtures. Five-nil sounds commanding, but honestly, it could have been seven or eight.

Hey Andy did you watch the game today?:2razz:

Please don't take this the wrong way Higgins, but **** off just a little bit. For me. :peace

Don't take this the wrong way.. but Pep will be fired.

No way. They'd probably have to pay him a billion quid and who do you go to after firing Pep lol???

Maybe, but I doubt it. If he was fired the CEO and DoF Soriano and Beguiristain would have to go too as they engineered the entirety of the City project around bringing Pep to the Etihad.

If Pep wins a cup this season, or even just gets to the CL semis, he'll keep his job. I'm just waiting to see whether he's as good a coach as the hype had us believe. So far, I'm not impressed. He's replaced a good goalkeeper with a very mediocre one; he's done nothing to improve the defence and he's thus far failed to identify his strongest line-up in MF and FW. I was very happy with Pellegrini. Under Guardiola City has gone backwards.

Let's see if he can sort it out. I'm not calling for his head yet; I'd be happy to give him 2 seasons. Some investments take longer to mature than others.

I said this in July 2016.

I don't see Pep winning anything this year nor do I see him getting to the CL semis. I sure as hell don't see Man City in top 4.

Yes way. It's far cheaper to pay off Pep to leave then risk losing more prize money next year. Missing out on Champions League would be a HUGE revenue loss for a Club.

But paying off Pep doesn't necessarily = getting CL next year. They're not mutually exclusive.

You're one of those drama llama panic queens who want to ditch the manager at first sign of trouble. Fortunately, the current City administration has more balls than that. Klopp had a much worse season at Liverpool last year than Pep's having at City, and the Liverpool owners stuck with him. They are reaping some rewards this season. Football's not for lily-livered, panicky milk-sops. I'd say to the City owners; have some guts and see it through. I'm almost certain they will.

Of course, much of this discussion comes down to your irrational dislike of Pep, which you made clear before he even joined the club. You're the definition of an unreliable narrator.

Now, now. I am just pointing out if he doesn't get Man City into CL there is no real reason to keep him there. Man City won't be able to rebuild the team with players he needs in the summer transfer window as they dropped tonnes of money already and with Fair Play rules, also wage bill rules also hamper that ability. Man City is gonna be in a pickle if they don't get CL next year. They need that revenue.

Two different situations, Klopp was hired to turn around Liverpool. Klopp took his role on October 8th, didn't have a summer transfer window in which work. Klopp also took over a club that dropped 7 points (realistically should have won under Rodgers) before he even got there. So this was really Klopp's year to prove it.. and he's doing it. So it's not as simple as you think.

I am only holding this position about Pep because of the following reasons you mention in your OWN POST

'Member that? So I am holding Pep to a standard, as what you laid out as a Man City fan. Yet I am lily-livered? Panicky milk-sop?

Trust me, I am not panicky about this stuff. I thought Swansea was stupid in firing Bob Bradley who was put into a **** position by owners (all their managers this year were). It's just a bad team. His lingo issues was typical of the British press and Fans (err, supporters) and blowing it out of whack. Of course he's gonna use American lingo every once in a while, he's an American. Personally, I would have been more forceful in saying we know "I am an American. I know you don't respect the American game but I've had success in Europe and we have the same goal.. and that's to win". If he said that, he probably wouldn't have been fired and given until May.

I am still pissed the USMNT firing of Jurgen Klinsmann. Klinsmann had been dealing with a very shallow player pool due to injuries. Any other USMNT manager would have hard time getting results too. What his firing really came down to is the Klinsmann's believed if you are one of US's promising stars or stars, you NEED to be playing in Europe. As the American press called it.. Europe Uber Alles... and it shattered American's patriotic self belief in the horrible league called MLS. Klinsmann pissed off alot of US fans and the MLS because it was his last resort in getting players. I absolutely understand why. US based players are not technically gifted. It's equatable to playing in League 1 or League 2 in England. It showed in 2014 World Cup.

I have no problem with Pep. But I recognize Pep was give two very good teams to work with at Barca and Bayern in leagues where those two teams have at least 50% or greater to win League titles. England was always gonna be the test Pep would have to face as England is a different beast. The game is hugely different. High work rates and to quote Jack Charlton, "keep them under pressure" mentality. Front to back, there is always pressure on the ball. You don't get that in Spain or Germany. Pep is not Jose Mourinho who proved himself in Portugal at Porto with less resources.

Funny, you think Swansea were wrong to sack Bradley sitting at the bottom of the table, but City should sack Guardiola sitting 5th. I agree that Swansea were stupid to chop and change managers as much as they do. They seem to think that it's managers who are the only important factor in the success of a team. We know that's not true. You don't cut and run on any manager after less than 6 months. To do so doesn't reflect badly on the manager but on the club.
