The Big Farm giveaways are nothing new, the large amount of government subsidies to farming isn't new. Though this whole trade war creating grief and the need for additional billions is new. It seems to me that whenever Trump claims someone else will be paying for something, it ends up being the American People who pay.

I just remember the whole brouhaha over Obama golfing and the money he was spending, but apparently that sort of thing no longer matters. No doubt, the next time the D is in the Office and they golf a lot, we'll hear about it again.

But mostly Republicans aren't against "socialism" as long as it aids their side. It's only "socialism" if the other side does it. Our Farm Subsidies have been grossly overblown and corrupted for quite a long time now, and adding more isn't going to fix the problem. More over, from the party of "personal responsibility", they seem quite gleeful to take everyone's money and use it to band-aid the problems they caused so they don't have to face the repercussions.

Yes the concept of a central planning committee isn't just for Commies. Our government has set quotas, increased or decreased acreage, Bought up grain, used government money to push grain overseas (kinda like Chinese steel dumping) for decades now.

Our government artificially props up grain prices to keep basic food prices lower than a 'free market' would as our government fears a hungry mob- like any other government.

Now this subsidy is for none of the above- it is a feeble attempt to keep the fly over states tRumpland. Due to the trade war our free market has prices in basic grains falling, farmers can't depend on their banks to loan for the next crop and the subsidy is a drop in the bucket compared to the loss through agribusiness.

Just another attempt to buy votes- something the Republican'ts hate until they need to do it... eace

How is this anything other than giving Democrats' money to farmers? Create tariffs rising prices of items, everyone pays, the money raised is then handed out to farmers.
