All testimony thus far has been very consistent, Trump withheld funding from Ukraine to try to get the to announce a politically motivated investigation into a political rival. That's it. The end. The only defense your side has is obstruction. Release the docs, let the witnesses come forth, and we'll see where it is. If Trump did nothing wrong, then it will all come out in the wash. But if we allow obstruction to become a legitimate defense, it opens the door for even greater abuses in the future.

This is why I can't vote Republican anymore. Y'all used to be for smaller, constrained, and responsible government but now y'all are for huge government without limits so long as it's your government. It's not beneficial to the Republic. It seems that the status quo has become comfortable selling out the Republic so long as it promotes and protects their particular party.

You may want to update your example. All of the investigations into Sec. Clinton have finished, and while they found some lapses in judgement, they found no criminal activity associated with her actions. If you are concerned, you may want to ask Agent Orange to stop using an unsecured personal phone.

17 of 18 witnesses said they had no knowledge that Trump had done anything wrong when forced to answer point blank. The ONE that had direct knowledge was forced to answer that Trump in his only direct conversation with him said he wanted NOTHING.

The testimony all pointed out the same thing Trump drove the bus. Trump withheld funds. Trump used Giuliani to go through backdoors and subvert the State Department. The "no evidence" is only there because of obstruction. There was more than enough testimony to warrant an investigation and subpoenas. If there's nothing there, then the documents and additional testimony will speak to that point. But accepting obstruction as a valid defense is only going to make MORE problems down the road. And it won't always be a R doing making the problems. The D's are just as capable and willing to do this. And when they do, which they will because y'all are excusing it now, that's when your side is going to start crying a river over it.

This is a bad and dangerous precedent to set. Everyone knows this.

That's a nice narrative, and I guess that so long as y'all keep the obstruction defense going, you can try to use it. Trump withheld funding, Trump used a personal lawyer to get around the State Department, Trump tried to get Ukraine to announce an investigation against a political rival. There is certainly cause to be concerned, to investigate, and to have the documents and witnesses testimony as needed. Trying to cover this all up sets terrible precedent. A precedent your side will be crying about in the future.

If they feel this thing is meritless they should simply vote to dismiss it, which imo would be a mistake too.
I rather see them give the democrats the admonishment they deserve. Like it or not half the country supports removing him by any means necessary and the senate should respect that enough to address how petty they are behaving.

They didn't, because it's fake news. They tried to confirm with Klobuchar and she denied the report. People do get up, for bathroom, to grab coffee, just to move around, but 95% were always in place.
