Rules require senators to be at their desks for entirety of trial and not use any electronic devices... I have no doubt they left to use some type of electronic device.

The impeachment isn't a serious thing and everyone knows that. If they have to get up and stretch their legs, grab a bite to eat, catch up on their favorite anime, that's okay.

I'm sure he does but he's just the judge and if anyone wants to push the issue, it would have to be one of the other senators to make the proposal that they be sanctioned, then Roberts would have to judge on that ruling.

And, they should push it. It would be a great way to take away the power of the vote for 4 or 6 of those bastards. :lamo

The sham trial was always about cover-up, dismissal, deflection. The Party Before Republic GOP was never interested in taking their responsibilities seriously, nor their commitment to the Republic and the People. Their commitment is to the Party above all else.
 
Short of some type of emergency im not seeing a legitimate reason for any of them to break the rules.

Adam Schiff had been talking for 2 hours when they walked out. These are old men and women, some with prostrate issues.

How about just scheduling a bathroom break break every hour?

...or, like Loretta Lynch giving Hillary a pass on her classified material handling violations, the Republican Senate will look the other way. After all, they don't want any evidence or witnesses. They certainly won't punish their own Senators for being bored by a procedure where everyone knows the outcome.

Will the Senate impeachment be fair, honest and impartial?

The impeachment is about the potential abuse of power and Trump withholding Congressionally appointed funds to a foreign government in order to get them to comply with a political attack on a rival. Pretty sure that power isn't granted to the President anywhere in the Constitution. The sham trial is all about a cover up, and you know it. That you or anyone else pretends this is anything other than that is hilarious...actually it's dangerous and sets a horrible precedent that will surely be abused by future Presidents.

Your and others taking this as a joke, is how a Dem House came to be. Arrogance and lack of respect of this sort will produce a Dem President, and perhaps even a Dem Senate.

Just as the groundswell of working-class small-town & rural angst was unacknowledged in 2016, allowing Trump to sneak in, you guys have grown arrogant, out of touch, and too full of yourselves to see the massive groundswell turning against you. What began in the Peoples House in 2018 will finish in the White House in 2020.
