Wouldn't helping the poor be socialism ?

What do you perceived as "Democratic Socialism" ?

How do your anti Socialist views match with what someone like Bernie Sanders is saying ?

I suggest that you consult a dictionary for the definition of socialism and see the DSA's web pages for their agenda. Blathering a bunch of questions at me is not going to get you far. Hint: simply having social programs (aka the safety net) is not socialism.

So you don't know what socialism is, far less what Democratic socialism is, resorting to a referral to a dictionary to mask your ignorance ?

You hate something you can't define, you've just been indoctrinated to believe you have to hate it.

Which post(s) of of mine (simply cite it or them by number) lead you to conclude that I hate socialism? You now seem to be off on some rant totally unrelated to gun control and quite likely based on what some other poster has said.

That post does not express any hate whatsoever. I have included its content below for easier reference.

The state is quite capable of helping the poor without resorting to socialism.

The following is a defintion of socialism:

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Obviously, having a social program to assist the poor, for example SNAP, does not require that the private means of grocery production, distribution or exchange be altered in any way simply to accept payments from government subsidized customers.

That post does not express any hate whatsoever....

So should we substitute "don't like very much" instead of hate ?

So would you be in favor of this ?
How about free college education ?
What about universal health care ?

Free college education can occur without socialism
Universal healthcare can occur without socialism.

You don't seem to know what socialism means.. you might want to do some reading.... and find out what socialism is... before going out on rants about hating socialism.

So ?

Are you afraid of debate now...then why post# 569 ?

Because he already explained post 569. He is right... and you are wrong.

You need to understand what socialism is.. I suggest you go and do some reading before debating again.

And you claim to understand what socialism is. Specifically "Democratic Socialism"...it doesn't mean the state ownership of the means of production.

In most cases, yes it does.

Social ownership could take many forms, such as worker-owned cooperatives or publicly owned enterprises managed by workers and consumer representatives.

What is Democratic Socialism? - Democratic Socialists of America (DSA)

Where, exactly, would the workers at an automotive assembly plant, the crew of a McDonald's restaraunt or the "associates" of a Walmart store/warehouse come up with the capital to take over the lease/mortgage, pay the utilities and order the required inventory?

Just saying that you're inconsistent.

It's called a "leveraged buy out"

And I don't think Sanders is advocating changing the ownership of the means of production.

I don't care what Sanders is advocating since he is in no position to enact any such policy changes. I posted the DSA link, you ignored what it says and changed the subject - yet again.

He's running for an office that is

It is an ignorant web site

I think you'll find Sanders is saying something quite different, but you don't care what he says

Are there any politicians whose views you do listen to ?

The POTUS does not have the power to make laws. Sanders also has no chance of being elected POTUS or getting his "grand plan" bills enacted into law.

BTW, A few post ago you were praising democratic socialism and now you are calling its official web site ignorant.

He actually does - though he needs Congressional support

Many if not all presidents make campaign promises that require a law to enact.

Are you saying Democratic Socialism has an "official web page" ?

Who granted them that title ?

What's the "official" web page for Capitalism ?

My liberty and safety and the liberty, and safety of the population is general, is more important than your fears for your liberty.

you clearly have no clue how rights work in this country. And your nonsense that someone merely owning guns, hurts your liberty and safety is inane.

Rights don't "work" in this country

Only laws do.

You can have a gun because the law allows you to.

Remove the law (in this case the 2nd amendment) and your "right" is removed with it.

you're lying yet again: the Supreme Court has already ruled that the right is not dependent on the constitution and you and the rest of the gun banners would have to pass an amendment allowing the federal government to ban guns. I don't think enough politicians are willing to lose their offices to do that

There’s your fundamental misunderstanding of rights.

Rights simply exist. The founders believed this but had the foresight to see people willing to trample on those rights. Rights were then codified into the, wait for it, Bill of RIGHTS.

That bill doesn’t exist to grant an individual those rights; it exists to prevent a tyranny of majority from taking those rights away.

Those who are big fans of nanny state government, see government as the source of all that is good. Those of us who see government as a necessary evil, don't worship it like big staters do
