The conservatives you're referencing don't exist anymore. And honestly, everything we are seeing today is what all of those conservatives believed, just in its most logical conclusion. There's no gentle way or compromise on believing people are citizens, legal or illegal, human, etc.

I'm here. I exist. I am a fiscal conservative and a social moderate.

I believe, as actual Conservatives believe, in ethics and good character. I believe my Rights have value, but so does everyone else's that comply with pragmatic, practical, thought that is fact based and reality driven. That there are more than one way to skin any given cat, and while I might prefer my own I have to make room for the ideas of others if I expect them to make room for mine. You can not get in this world if you are unwilling to give.

Not only is it not fair to do so, it invalidates ones right to defend your own rights. A person who willing cheats others can not complain against be cheated against. Nor act, ethically, to defend themselves from being cheated upon. That works the same all the way up to potentially having to take life to defend life. If one is readily willing to kill without ethical merit, one sacrifices the claim on the right to kill to protect upon ethical merit.

I believe in actual, true, capitalism. I believe in entrepreneurship and innovation. I believe in the right of the individual to free will, and the respecting of the free will of others.

None of the above is to say that others who would call themselves other things don't have claims to those thoughts and principals. We are, when we practice in ethical thinking, more alike than different.

I could go on, but my point is there are actual Conservatives that still exist.

IF you mean Presidential elections. I voted for the candidate I thought was the best person each time. Even if I did not totally agree with them politically.

My thinking on that, which I have expressed here in the past, is that people of good character and ethical thinking will do the right thing when the times insist upon it.

I wouldn't, and couldn't, vote for Trump even if I totally agreed with every political idea he has (and I do not, obviously). However, Pence was a person who when push came to absolute shove was compelled by his sense of right and wrong to do the right thing. That would be a good example of what I mean by what I write in this post.

So who I voted for in the last three Presidential elections is who I thought would be the person that, when called upon to be resolute in their actions based on ethics because the situation absolutely mandated it, would do that right thing - regardless of party of political belief, but based on the ethical necessity.
