Who fired the first salvo in the Trump vs MSM "war"?

Please provide a link and/or source for your assertion. A time and date and place would be helpful. Was it Trump unjustly blaming the media for something? Was it the media outright lying or lying-by-omission about Trump? Something else?

They loved him right up until it appeared he had a real chance of winning the primaries, then they turned on him and are unleashing the most viscious smear campaign I have seen in my lifetime

I really have no idea what MSN said. Could you post a link to that? We can't have a President that is acting like a little boy. If he wants to address criticism he can act like an intelligent adult an act accordingly, or simply ignore it, like all other Presidents have done.

Being POTUS is not easy. No matter how good they are--they can expect to get criticism coming in from every direction 24 hours a day 7 days a week. If Trump can't handle the heat in the kitchen he shouldn't have run for the hottest seat in the world.

What are your thoughts on the fact that as of this post, none of the people who have said Trump fired the first shot have posted a single shred of evidence to back up their claims? Mycroft already submitted some pretty definitive proof in post #2 and it's being ignored. Do you have any opinion on that?

Does it really matter who "fired the first salvo"? Stupid is still stupid and wrong is still wrong no matter which side "started it". As a kid that certainly never worked as an excuse with my parents when my siblings and I got into fights. And it doesn't work when my kids try to use the same excuse.

No I will go ahead, and say that it was rather funny to see just what they would report on. Ever time they would just post it up there, and be all "oh look what Trump said today" People like me would just sit on the couch, and laugh at the stupidity it took to even consider that a story. When you know there are deaths, and robberies ever single day that could easily take that center stage.

Its been a fun right watching most of these accredited news outlets, just tow their own reputations through a drudge line for the last year.

It doesn't matter who starts what in today's hyper sensitive world.

The grown ups have left the building and turned the lights off.
 
I think that asking who started it isn't the point. Presidents and the press always have had a contentious relationship and that's good. It gives the public a view of what's going on. The press shouldn't be the president's lapdog and only print complimentary news.

What has never been the case is a president actively trying to delegitimize the free press, claiming that they report "fake news" and the public should only believe him.

We also happen to have a president who is so thin-skinned and has such low self-esteem that he can't accept any criticism and his ego must be constantly stroked with praise.

Russiagate was debunked and the MSM has continually repeated false accusations. Trump is narissistic, boorish, rude, and fights fire with fire as the MSM has found out, to their chagrin. MSM started this war. Trump has cost them readership by doing beaucoup tweeting to get his message out. The MSM thinks they are the media that is supposed to control the message.

Wrong question. Who started it, a Democratically elected President or a free press? If there is a free press, it will be critical and even, yes, unfair. So do we elect a leader to spend his entire days being at war with a free press and insulting figures in the media, or do we want him to lead, to be accountable to the American people, and to stand as an example of seriousness, respectfullness and intelligence?

Both. But, IMO, the media is justified because Trump really is an ass clown.
