Maybe you and I saw it coming, but Trump's voters believe they were getting non-donor-class. And in a way, they did - at least in terms of financing the campaign.
And Bernie has shown there's the same disdain for the donor-class on the Dem side.
I really do feel there is a large anti-donor-class swatch of the electorate. Whether anyone besides Trump can pull it off, remains to be seen. I thought Bernie had a shot, but no. Then again, he didn't run as an Indie either.
The RNC raised $10.8M in May to make $61.9M for the year. They spent $10.5M in May to have $41.8M on hand for such items as special elections.
The DNC hasn't released May yet. They only raised $4.7M in April, spent $6.4M in April and finished with $8.8M.
It should be obvious which party depends on CU and which depends on grassroots, as with Ossoff. The DNC is basically broke as to putting out nationwide ads as the GOP does .
