Cancel Culture: Goya Foods CEO calls boycott threats a 'suppression of speech'

Goya is a corporation headquartered in Jersey City, NJ... Annual revenues of around $1.5B.... They don't have a "shop in downtown Los Angeles"...

Now you've caused him to triple down on his stupid statement.......

I have no idea what the current administration promised him, but he found it important enough to alienate some of this customers.

Quite possibly he acted on his own and meant what he said.

Chances are he'll gain more customers that he loses.

Goya Foods CEO Robert Unanue calls boycott threats following his praise of Trump a 'suppression of speech' | businessinsider.com

It's becoming ridiculous. The left are attempting to stifle thought, opinion, and speech.

This has to stop.

There can be no more basic test of the 1st than a boycott.

Should they somehow not be permitted to think and say Goya is run by an @sshole (the CEO) who loves other @ssholes (Trump)?

Should the CEO of Goya be permitted to say anything he likes with no consequences? That ain't what the 1st says, either.

If the Goya guy didn't want to stir things up, he didn't have to praise Trump publicly. It's not like it's hard to predict the response.

Also, conservatives consistently rolls their eyes at liberal-led boycotts, and for good reason. But NOW it's a threat to our very way of life.

These aren't boycotts, they're Maoist Struggle Sessions - wikipedia.org

I do not use salsa. The recipe calls for 2 cans of red enchilada sauce. Whatever your preference of the amount of heat it comes in mild, medium or hot. I will get my cookbook out tomorrow and send you the recipe by PM.

It is a tasty recipe that you can make vegan or add the chicken. I have done it both ways and it is very tasty.

Thank you, vesper. Corn tortillas?

You mean you want us to fall for the great 'organic' con?

Not at all. Just suggesting a good low sodium alternative for those wishing to switch from Goya. Non organic low sodium beans are very hard to find.

So, any business that openly supports Trump should be boycotted? LMAO

That's some scary fascism there.

Too bad his store is in downtown Los Angeles. A little too far for me or I would shop there all the time.

So you have no idea what 'fascism' means.

For some reason you're under the stupid impression that ordinary people exercising their 1A rights is a sign of fascism. It's the opposite of course. In this case it's the people criticizing the government and its powerful leader and those aligned with this powerful government. That's what freedom looks like, and it's messy and you can disagree, but that's what this is.

That's the beauty of free speech. He's free to kiss Trump's fat ass, and others are free to support him or not.

Exactly.

BTW, I've not knowingly eaten Goya until now, but they're tasty.

LOL. There's not a bigger bunch of whining, cowardly, sniveling snowflakes than modern day right wingers. Some liberals criticize a CEO aligned with the President of the United States and they cry "my freedoms are being trampled!!! My oppression!! I can't say what I want without someone criticizing ME!!!"

Boo hoo. :boohoo: Someone needs his blanky and a nap.

It's all fun and games until they come for you, your friends, your relatives, your livelihood.

These are Marxist-Maoist-Communist control tactics being used right here at home, and you're on record for cheering them on.

City of Industry is nowhere near DTLA.

Nice fail!

I live in Southern Calif. It is about 20 miles away. The City of Industry is in Los Angeles County.

Why do you folks keep on questioning me and proving me right? Very odd

LOL! I lived in LA for 20 years. City of Industry simply isn't DTLA, no matter how much that fills you with impotent rage.

Nice fail!

That's an odd thing for a Bolshevik like you to complain about.

It's free speech, and yes, I'm on record in support of free speech. You should read your constitution and pay attention to the Bill of Rights, and the first amendment. That's what I support and that's all this is. The CEO is free to praise Dear Leader, others who disagree are free to express that, and to choose to buy another product, those who support the CEO and Trump can criticize the anti-Trump liberals and buy MORE Goya products. That's how a free society works. Free speech, free association, markets, etc.

It's actually quite idiotic to compare this to the regimes you mention.

It's political, it's right out of the Maoist playbook, and you support it. You just don't like the behavior's origins to be identified.

But they are what they are: Communist Struggle Sessions.

Did you think Pelosi dressing up in an African costume and kneeling before the cameras was genuine? Or white people apologizing for being born with skin of a certain pigment?

The Communist Chinese gave birth to the very logic that you carry with you today; that public shaming and humiliation by mobs is necessary to build an authoritarian nation-state with willing participants. Hong Kong has fallen. Democracy has been tamped down. You don't even realize that you're breeding it for them.

That's genius right there.
