The Lincoln Project

That's the only choice we'll ever get again. It is impossible to shrink the government at this point. The best we can hope for is slower growth.

Yet slower growth of the federal "budget" deficit is not happening under Trump - the reverse is. What we have seen is federal spending growth continuing to outpace federal revenue growth passed by a veto proof margin. So long as growing the federal "budget" deficit results in a congressional re-election rate of over 90% then we can rest assured that it will continue - no matter which major political party has the majority in congress or holds the WH.

this will become a serious issue again to the right if a DEm takes the presidency.

Oh looky, the typo police are out in force. If I spent all my time in here pointing out misspellings and incorrect grammar, I'd never have time for anything else.

When you open the door to the pun, people will walk through it, soles and all.

Trump’s dangerous rally in New Hampshire this Saturday should be interesting for your governor, on down the ballot. This is one of those overlapping deals, trying to help Maine GOPs.

Yup. I think Sununu may be going. I know the down ballot GOP candidates will be there. I keep getting invites to it. I'd rather chew off my left arm and have sex with a garbage can than go see Trump.

Speaking specifically to you, tres, do you accept the LP's message that it's okay to vote for the Democrat just this once until a normal Republican is on the ticket again?

I'm asking you this because, as you already said, you're the LP's target demographic and that's their message.

Honest answer? I don't know yet.

I have not turned into a librul. I still don't agree with a lot of their ideas. But then again I do agree with a lot of their ideas.

I think I likely won't vote Republican again unless I see another Huntsman. But I'm not sure.

They are pretty evil in nature but may be effective with swing voters?

"Evil in nature?" I think the ads are basically true. If they seem evil, it's because of the actions of their target.

This is the latest one, and it's very good, very true, very on target.

They're kind of screwing their own party though.

Not really. They believe too many of the current GOP politicians need to be voted out because they have enabled Trump at every turn. I agree.

The Lincoln project is nothing more than greedy deep staters and Democrats. They spew the same BS the DNC does. Der. Took about 10 seconds to figure that out.

And veritas1 is right, Biden is just a figurehead. The people behind the scenes that will run him are completely unacceptable to the American voter and they know it.

All recent presidents are figureheads - even Trump. Most of the stuff Trump has pushed through has been by executive order (or Tweet), which can and will be reversed when the 'other' party is in power; busy work for figureheads. Those with the most money really run the country (economy), yet we don't get to vote for any of them.

I can't agree. Dems are smart to keep their distance. The Lincoln Project has more credibility if the aren't seen as a tool for the Democrats.

yes - for now - and in good time - perhaps September - they should merge interests and work together.

LP doing ads for Biden? Hmmmmm...
I can definitely say that Biden's campaign had better find themselves some equally talented people, that's for sure.

My idea seems to be going over like a lead balloon.

I'm a lefty who chuckles at the overreach and overreactions of the wokes.
What we really need is mutual respect restored and balance.

I don't care how you slice it about accuracy or context, the ads are damning in substance.

If he's not too damaged by the propaganda against him they do. But he really needs some magic to get back up in the polls, like an effective covid vaccine.

OR, a COVID crisis so out of control he can declare martial law.

That reminds me. I need to send them more money!

Your concern is pretty specifically what the LP is concerned with, which is the worry that by voting for Biden you're somehow buying into the Democratic platform. The Lincoln Project, through these ads, ismaking it clear they don't agree with the Democratic platform either. What they do accept is that Biden is at the very least a decent human being who believes in traditional democratic (little 'd') and American principles, and that this can be enough until Trump is gone and you can go back to supporting sane Republicans.

And then you and I can pick up where we left off, which was throwing pots and pans at each other over the best way forward for America. And yes, if the shoe was on the other foot, you can bet I'd be voting for the sane Republican.

I put my pots and pans away but I'll bring them back!

I have been duly warned.

You have!

But in all seriousness, I can say that generally speaking, the Dems support a lot of things that I can get behind. They care about animals. They want people to have access to good healthcare. They want Americans to make good wages. They want everyone to have a great education without racking up debt for the next 35 years. They don't want to peek in your bedroom or believe they have to give consent to your marriage. Those are all important to me. They also don't believe that women, blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims are second rate people, like the GOP thinks.

I don't like them when they go too left.

I think Biden is a good man. A decent man. A strong man. And because of those things, he has earned my support in 2020 - and I'm damn proud to give it to him.

The Republican Party is dead to me right now. Garbage like Trump and Nunes and McConnell and McCarthy and so on.....garbage.

I agree. They do damn Trump. The truth hurts worst of all.

I have this fantasy that the Republican party will split and the riff-raff will go on being "Republicans" and there will be a new "Lincolnist" party that becomes the mainstream party for principled conservatives.

Listen, as a lifelong lefty who STARTED out as a damn near commie from about 1970 until maybe 1977, allow me to make something clear:
The loudest groups of extremists on the left are the smallest. Talking about the so called "woke as ****" people etc.

The anarchists are not Democrats, Antifa are not Democrats, anarchists don't vote...EVER. That's the reason they ARE anarchists.

"Whoever they vote for - we are UNGOVERNABLE"

Anarchists.jpg

I posted the pic mostly because of the word "THEY".
Anarchists are referring to "they" as all the people who vote and participate in picking government, etc.
They is US, the voters, lib and con both.

The loudest youth groups on the left also do not vote.
That's why Bernie Sanders lost the primary in 2016 and it's why he lost again in 2020.
Going to protests, marching around, screaming, carrying signs and doing civil disobedience IS COOL!
It's even romantic!!
I got laid countless times by young beautiful horny sexy commie chicks.

Going to the polls and voting or filling out ballots? YAWN - BORING...that's for OLD people!

Tres, the overwhelming majority on the left are just ordinary left leaners who talk about the stuff you mentioned above.
Come on over to our side, we have cookies!

And you have a kind soul, can't think of a better match!
Again, WE HAVE COOKIES!!!
