[Live] 2020 Dem NV Primary Debate Live Thread!

In order to be as rich as Michael Bloomberg you would have needed to be born in 1AD and make $3,500 per hour from then until today.

Let the enormity of that sink in.

But as Bloomberg said, “What a wonderful country we live in. The best known socialist in the country happens to be a millionaire with three houses.”

How'd that work out for ya Chomsky? lol

j/k

I really wanted to stay on till the wee hours and rap about this ad nauseum but the truth is, I am feeling worse than I ever have in my entire span here on Earth. Put in a good word for me, mates...I'll try to get on some more tomorrow.

All guns now turn either on Biden or Sanders. They better get after Sanders if they want to stop him.

Why is that? Because they lose so many elections? You do know that is why Republican corrupt and reactionary policies have over run our govt. don't you? It is not just Trump, it started with Reagan and 24 of the last 40 years a Republican was in the Whitehouse. That is why we haven't fixed our problems, you are blaming the wrong party. Like I said, you are a tool of the fascist right who want to divide the great Democrat majority so they can rule in the minority. Do you like minority rule?

The minority already rule the country. You're operating under the notion that the Democrats aren't liable or responsible for any wrong doing in modern America. I'm not blaming one party, I'm blaming both parties and the systemic issues that have been created by Capitalistism.

Democrats do not represent my values, it is their job to gain my support, not the other way around.

That debate was in October of 2015. We're 4 months later than that in the cycle and there are still 6 candidates on stage.

The statement I was responding to as I recall was that it was only Hillary and Bernie from day one. You are posting things irrelevant to my correcting that. Bernie did incredibly beating the other three who started in the race. And he's doing very well this time.

Hope you feel better. See a doctor?

That was a good ding.

Odd for a 78 year old guy who already had a heart attack.

I hope Liz starts catching on again after her winning performance last night.

Debate showed me that the Dems are so divided, that a lousy easily beatable incumbent president like Donald Trump will probably win re-election.

Very sad times.

The moderators did not help last night either. They almost allowed the participants to defend themselves when attacked.....ALMOST!

Bloomy should have been dealt with last night and I suspect Amy won't survive last night. There is simply no time for on the job training for Gloomy Bloomy and Amy wilted in the Klieg lights. That leaves SC to take on Bernie who has really gotten a free pass to this point. For all this talk about taking on the front runner who was the front runner going into last night? Either they take Bernie on or they don't, whats left of them. If nobody takes Bernie on before the GOP ends up being the only combatant left, the GOP WILL take Bernie on and chew him up.

I don't buy this nonsense that the participants can not differentiate themselves from Trump and still debate each other as well. The stage needs be be down to 4 candidates by the next debate.

Okay, for all of the disagreement in this thread, there's something we can all agree on.

Bloomberg got ****ing railroaded.

Warren thus far is a clear winner, but aside from Bloomberg getting utterly destroyed, this debate isn't going to move the needle much (unless something dramatic happens).

Unfortunately the whole NDA thing probably won't amount to much of a bump for her. It didn't end up hurting Trump at all. In fact, Stormy Daniels ended up paying his attorney's fees.

why for example was there no interest in Trump naming a complete stooge in Grenell as "acting" DNI. Grenell is yet another political hack being installed as another Acting so that the Senate does not even get a chance to shoot him down. Grenell has not even done a decent job as Ambassador to Germany and apparently he is going to keep that job while taking on the DNI post. While not being much of an Ambassador there is NOTHING, zippo, nada that suggests that he has any idea at all about being DNI.

I only saw parts but Bloomberg looked befuddled like he was thinking that these are people he usually barks orders at and now he's got to make believe they're competition. He was terrible.
I did hear that the Klubster ripped the Buttman a new one when he went after her for something trivial like forgetting a name. She essentially called him a phony who spouts memorized talking points?
Guess he sees her as his "moderate" competition and she sees him as a fake.
Liz Warren looked and sounded desperate, from what I saw.
Biden still has that confused look about him.
Bernie is still waving his arms all akimbo.

What a gaggle.

Because talking about Trump would have been absolutely irrelevant in a primary. Of course they all want to beat the President, but in a primary, we need to know what makes each candidate different from the other. Going into Nevada, we already know all of them don't like Trump.

All 8 of them are better than the buffoon currently hiding behind Melania and Ivanka’s dress.

They are virtually ignoring Trump and that makes no political sense, Primary, caucus or not. The goal still has to be to dethrone Trump and I do mean dethrone with all the implications of that word.

Well if they all keep putting down markers like that to win the nomination they're not going to beat Trump in the general when they have to defend them.

That's how it always is in primaries, Dems or Republicans. They have to fight it out to win the primaries first and only then unite the party behind them. That's one reason incumbents always have advantage.

Sounds like you should vote for Bernie based on your description then. Waving arms seems much better than the most corrupt President destroying environment, healthcare, education, consumer and all other government protections, with Medicare and Social Security next on the list.

Pete dealt some substantive and some low blows to Amy. Amy tried empty rebuttals like "you just memorized the talking points", as if that does not apply to every candidate on that stage. Those were not the high points of this debate for sure.
Pete did quite well IMO in general.
Bloomberg landed a few good punches but got owned overall and I don't see a path forward for him.
Warren and Biden did better than in past debates.

All 8 of them are better than the buffoon currently hiding behind Melania and Ivanka’s dress.

Yuck, given his prior comments, last thing I want to know is what Trump is doing behind Ivanka's dress.

That's how primaries work. You fight to fight each other and then fight the other nominee. If you really want to see a unity of effort, shift your support to the frontrunner, Bernie Sanders and implore your former candidate of choice to do the same.
