Watchdog: Russian-Made Arms in Rebel-Held Eastern Ukraine

Crimea is what they primarily wanted. The other two are just to keep Ukraine out of NATO.

What do you call it when armed forces of another nation enter and reside in another nations' territory without the second nation's agreement?

I would call that Syria, I doubt they agreed to US forces reside in their nations' territory without syria's agreement?

Regardless, The Maidan revolution was about bringing democracy to Ukraine...or something. Right? This alienated the people
of Donetsk and Lugansk who, having a president THEY voted for, rather thought Ukraine had a democracy already.
East Ukraine, at this point, got it's taste of the new "Ukrainian democracy and freedom" and found they did not care for it.

Russia seeing what was happening when the new government began to militarily stem the rebellion especially in Odessa
decided to back the Russian speaking Slavic lands of the east, hardly an invasion.

If Russia wanted to invade Ukraine take note that:

Remember there are other regions with strong Russian ties
that with help may have risen up against the Kiev Junta
Kharkiv region 71.35%
Zaporizhzhia region 71.50%
Odesa region 74.14%
Mykolaiv region 71.53%

I'm sure Putin and the freedom fighters realized there was more fertile
ground to explore if they desired which they did not

Funny thing is...

Nothing in the Ukrainian version of the Constitution allows individual sectors to merely walk away. Regardless of the like or dislike of the current politicians in Kiev.

Agreements between Russia and the Ukraine also had the Russian forces in Crimea limited to their respective bases. Once they stepped out to "stem the rebellion" (grab the government offices, etc.) they were in violation.

Crimea was then illegally annexed.

The Putinista's know this already. They'll just sidestep away with a different whataboutism..
