Networks of 7,000 universities declare climate emergency

Re: Amazing, universities declare climate emergency, HALF! that I knew later were after EPA / Enviro

Yes, but you would have to have the storage available and capable, we currently do not have ether!

building sufficient storage locally could take longer than building "an interState, energy highway." building storage nationally would be easier.

Do you understand that the storage will be needed everywhere, so locally or nationally will not make much difference.
Long distances between source, storage, and load, will only incur greater line losses.

...it is like saying manufacturing centers don't make much difference. more storage is available nationally right now than can be found in one State. we really can use an energy superhighway.

It is not that more storage cannot be found, but the question is, if the local storage is used by remote places,
what storage will the local place use?

...it is not an either or issue; it is about the positive multiplier effect in creating more supply for any given demand. More can be done nationally than by any one State. One mass storage system per State would yield fifty such systems versus one State coming up with fifty systems.

Of course, but the load is also spread out!
What I am saying is that of one home needs say 20 Kwh to get through the night, you cannot expect to always be able to support their neighbor
off of that same 20 Kwh of storage.

That is where the energy superhighway comes in. Anyone connected to the grid may have extra capacity. Only being totally off-grid would be a limit.

Electric cars is also a option because the average driving distance per day is less than 10 percent of battery capacity. So not only can electric cars most of the time be charged then it's highest surplus supply of electricity but also that their batteries can also be used for storage. Especially since car batteries are getting such long lifespan.

Biofuels is also an options because it can be stored an used then it's highest demand.

Also that electricity is used more smarter, that you adapt use to supply and demand.

Yes, you are correct. Electric cars represent the largest potential power storage system in the world. A smart grid, in conjunction with smart electric cars, can use surplus renewable energy and low-peak energy.

There is an interesting project to export solar power from Australia to Singalong.

After garnering attention last month when ambitious plans were unveiled by project proponents Sun Cable, the world’s biggest solar plant has taken a big step forward winning Major Project Status from the Northern Territory (NT) government. The proposed Australia-Singapore Power Link is a $20 billion project consisting of a 10 GW solar farm coupled with a 20-30 GWh storage facility in the sun-drenched Tennant Creek region.

As previously reported, the project plans to export electricity to both Darwin and Singapore. According to David Griffin, managing director of Singapore-based Sun Cable, the project’s transmission capacity will stand at 2.5 GW. Power will be transported via 3,800-km high voltage direct current submarine cables and cover 20% of Singapore’s power demand.

Bangladesh have declared that climate change is a planet emergency.

There Bangladesh already is expiring the devastating effects of manmade global warming.

This is just me, but I would think if Bangladesh saw the emergency coming,
they would at least track the sea level rise.

They seemed to stop reporting sea level data around year 2000.
I guess it is easier to report an emergency, if no contrary data exists.

Yeah because they are so rich

Climate emergency is the word of the year for 2019, according to Oxford Dictionaries.

"Oxford Dictionaries has declared “climate emergency” the word of the year for 2019, following a hundred-fold increase in usage that it says demonstrated a “greater immediacy” in the way we talk about the climate.

Defined as “a situation in which urgent action is required to reduce or halt climate change and avoid potentially irreversible environmental damage resulting from it”, Oxford said the words soared from “relative obscurity” to “one of the most prominent – and prominently debated – terms of 2019.”

According to the dictionary’s data, usage of “climate emergency” soared 10,796%.

Oxford said the choice was reflective, not just of the rise in climate awareness, but the focus specifically on the language we use to discuss it. The rise of “climate emergency” reflected a conscious push towards language of immediacy and urgency, the dictionary said."
