El Paso congresswoman says Trump 'not welcome' in the city after mass shooting

Trump hasn't paid the bills from his last visit to El Paso. Why should they want him back?

It would be far more appropriate if former President George Bush came to El Paso. Bush being a Texan would make even more sense.

Trump should just stay at his golf course in Mar-a-Lago. Even if Trump had good intentions his history of being the bile jerk fades any attempt to be comforting.

Bush would be a better person to comfort El Paso. I'm afraid Trump's presence will turn into a spectacle.

There is no reason Bush can't also visit El Paso. But no matter who it is, the President is the "Mourner-in-Chief" and should visit. I think it's part of the job.

I wish people could see that when O'Rourke or Escobar make this political, they are diminishing and insulting the Office of the Presidency. Trump won't always be President, but this churlish precedent will have been set. I don't see why folks can't be gracious in the face of tragedy.

Heck, we are being told all day that it is words that fuel the fire. Now it isn't?

Tell me the words that you think contributed to this shooting. The words that I think contributed are "Hispanic invasion". What specific words are you talking about?

Trump's rhetoric towards Hispanics is dehumanizing. IE: he calls them murderers and rapists, come from **** hole countries, bring diseases, infestations, vermin, invasion, etc.

You don't have to be a minority to recognize that he's stoking racist fear and hatred...you just have to be a decent human being.

Nonsense, He was calling the illegal immigrants who are murderers and rapists, murderers and rapists. Has confirmed this repeatedly. And the left and their media, desperate to stoke racist fear and hatred, repeatedly claim he is talking about all Nexicans in order to stoke racist fear and hatred. This is by design. This is their intent.

Sadly, you're right. The President is the mourner in chief and not Bush. Bush can't replace Trump in that role, even though Trump cant fulfill it adequately. As for respect for the Presidency, Trump's conduct diminishes the presidency more than any political opponent ever could.

Who are you quoting? Lets see a link. Or, are you placing quotes around words that Trump never spoke, to convince people he did speak them, in order to stoke racist fear and hatred?

With very few exceptions, illegal immigrants are not murderers and rapists. That is a lie intended to stoke fear.

El Paso Shooting Suspect’s Manifesto Echoes Trump’s Language - The New York Times
At campaign rallies before last year’s midterm elections, President Trump repeatedly warned that America was under attack by immigrants heading for the border. “You look at what is marching up, that is an invasion!” he declared at one rally. “That is an invasion!”

Nine months later, a 21-year-old white man is accused of opening fire in a Walmart in El Paso, killing 20 people and injuring dozens more after writing a manifesto railing against immigration and announcing that “this attack is a response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

How much of Trump's statement do you agree with? Do you agree that most of the illegal immigrants are rapist and murderers? Do you have any facts to back up that opinion?

He didnt use the word "most". YOU DID. In order to stoke racial fear and hatred.

What lie? Trump made no assertions as to how many. YOU DID in order to stoke racists fears and hatred.

I pointed that out as well yet, of course, got no reply. I guess if something is repeated enough times by the MSM (and demorat politicians) then it becomes a "fact".

No he didn't say most. He said they were rapists and murderers except for "some" who he "supposed" were good people.
Suppose | Definition of Suppose by Merriam-Webster

Definition of suppose

transitive verb
1a : to lay down tentatively as a hypothesis, assumption, or proposal suppose a fire broke out suppose you bring the salad
b(1) : to hold as an opinion : believe they supposed they were early
(2) : to think probable or in keeping with the facts seems reasonable to suppose that he would profit
2a : conceive, imagine
b : to have a suspicion of

He didn't say some were good people, he said that some of them might be good people, that it was possible that some were good. He said they were murderers and rapist with some possible exceptions.

Trump used the words without qualifiers. That is a generalization.

I asked if you agreed with Trump's statement about murderers and rapists and you replied that he was talking about illegal immigrants without telling me if you agreed with the murderers and rapist part, which was my actual question. That's the fact that you so adroitly avoided.

Thanks for confirming for us that YOU inserted "Hispanic" into your quote that Trump never spoke in order to stoke racist fear and hatred.

You think Trump was talking about rapacious bunny rabbits coming over the border?
El Paso shooting: Open season on Hispanics thanks to Donald Trump
Hispanics in his sights from Day One

Our president began his run for the White House by calling Mexicans drug dealers and “rapists.” He has disparaged a distinguished Mexican-American judge because of his heritage, and treated prominent Hispanic journalists with disrespect. He has spoken of illegal immigration in terms of infestation and invasion. At a May rally in Florida, he laughed off a supporter’s suggestion that violence was the way to deal with unauthorized migrants.

You asked if I agreed with Trump stating that most were murderers and rapists - I pointed out that Trump never said that and asked you for such a Trump quote which you have yet to produce. It is not subject to debate that some illegal immigrants have committed murder, rape or other violent criminal acts - I have already stated that I agree with you that most illegal immigrants do not commit violent criminal acts.

He's on TV again lying. He says his rhetoric is not dividing, but bringing people together. What an idiotic, and provable lie. Just shut up already. We know he's a racist as well as his do-no-wrong supporters, so just admit it already. I would respect that more than the ridiculous lying about it.

Because.......empathy, right? Trump cannot convey emotion/empathy reading from foot high letters across the room.

The tweet speaks to uniting themes, right?

Wow! Who would have though that so much would hang on the word "most"? No, Trump didn't use the word "most". He generalized. He said Mexico was sending rapists and murderers. That actually implies that they were all rapists, so he walked back the generalization by saying he, supposed, some were good people. Now I think that the implication that All minus Some (who might or might not be rapists and murderers) equals Most. To me the implication is clear. You might not agree, which is certainly your prerogative.

Now they are doing the same with Trumps use of the word "invasion". They put "hispanic" in front of it and put quotes around both words asserting that Trump actually spoke them. ALL in a concerted and coordinated effort between liberal politicians and their media to stoke as much racist fear and hatred that they possibly can.

Nope. 10 rapist and mudrerers among the millions of illegal immigrants would make Trumps statement accurate.

At one time the office of presidency did have a element of class.

You will probably disagree and I understand. But the current office holder in the White House has resembled a 5th grader with a twitter account. I don't think Trump or a Maxine Waters would be comforting to anyone in El Paso.

Just because someone won an election doesn't means they automatically inherit respect. Respect is earned. Live by the sword, die by the sword.
