Here's my take...
1. For those who claim that Trump cannot make his own laws. He hasn't. His EO's have to be based on existing laws. Now...I haven't read the EO's yet. I'm not sure anyone has. But you can be sure that his EO's contains the justification for whatever he does in the EO.
2. For those who predict court challenges. Perhaps. But keep in mind that whoever mounts a court challenge must have standing and one of the criteria for standing is that they must have suffered some sort of harm. Who is being harmed by his EO's? Maybe Congress, eh?
3. Which brings us to the politics of this event. Congress has been unable to come to an agreement and both sides have been blaming the other. That's politics. Trump has shifted things and placed the blame...not on either party...but on Congress. Congress, in my opinion, has three options:
a. Take Trump to court to stop the EO's.
b. Leave it alone and let Trump have his way.
c. Come together and pass their own legislation and send it to the President.
There are obvious political pros and cons for each course of action that Congress will have to weigh before they come to a decision.
4. Of course, the media will do their part by painting Trump as the bad guy, by using their usual spin, speculation, innuendo, hyperbole and lies.
Now me? I think Congress will immediately pass some legislation and send it to Trump. I think Trump will sign it and then rescind his EO's. And I think that is what Trump wants...that's why he did the EO's. If I'm right, this EO action would be Trump slapping Congress upside the head and telling them to do their damned jobs...and them doing it.
