The word ARMYfigures prominently in Red Dawn because in the screenplay, America is not being troubled by illegal aliens, it is under attack by the army of a hostile foreign nation, the Soviet Union.

That places the entire Red Dawn zeitgeist completely outside of this story and the issues contained herein, because the government of Mexico has not promulgated or otherwise declared any state of war against the United States, the illegal aliens are not soldiers and no state of war exists between the two countries.

The role of any citizen militia would be completely different if that were the case.
