Charles Manson Dies at 83

Damn shame really......He got to live out his life on the taxpayer dime.

Im a bit torn on this one......I would have liked for him to have been executed, but that would have been too quick and could only have been done once.

All I can say is finally.

The California prison he was in must have been very soft for him to have lasted so long.

He was a hero to Aryans and white supremacists so I'm sure he found lots of support from them in prison to protect him. Remember his ultimate goal was to start a race war which is exactly what many white supremacists want.

The one thing I will give credit to is the governor vetoing Manson's members parole when the Prison system approved them.

Charles Manson was convicted and sentenced to death in 1971 but benefitted from California abolishing the death penalty shortly thereafter. Pity - he should have been dead 50 plus years ago and a younger generation would know absolutely nothing about him.

Just as an aside, wonder if he'd get away with an insanity defense in today's society/courts. It's hard to argue the man wasn't monumentally insane.

Manson and AIDS were the one-two punch that knocked out the free love sexual revolution of the 60s. Now we're stuck with copping a feel being the equivalent of murder.

Altamont had a lot to do with the end of that era.

I am torn on the death penalty. However, I think in cases where the defendants are absolutely guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt (i.e. their own admittance and lack of remorse) along with the crime (such as this) being so heinous, the death penalty is warranted.

Agreed.

In this case, I don't see it so much as punishment as I do a matter of public safety; we put down rabid animals for this very reason.

Took him long enough

My mother taught me to speak only good of the dead.

Charles Manson is dead. Good.

Probably the only post "like" I have ever given you.

You seem disappointed that sexual assault is not being tolerated any more. I wonder why?

Ol' Charlie certainly was prominent - that's all that was in the Times, and the Examiner as well, those days. It's eerie how he sucked those disaffected kids into his sphere. While Charlie is now gone several of his "kids" are still watching their lives drift away from behind bars.

Helterskelter never sounded better

Good riddance Manson. It was so disgusting how some people saw him as some kind of pop-culture icon or folk hero but he was truly a worthless sick degenerate asshole. Luck was on his side and his so-called family when the death penalty was outlawed. He and his murdering followers are a prime example of why capital punishment is needed.

Rest in piss Charlie.

You already lived 50 years longer than you deserved.

A waste of oxygen and tax dollars.

May he rot in the limbo of purgatory eternally. May he be forced to listen to an endless loop of Florence Foster Jenkins doing a duet with Margaret Dumont. May he suffer from untreated hemorrhoids and athlete's foot with no relief forever. May he enjoy the sensation of a hundred maggots devouring his leprous flesh everyday as it is restored to him with all his nerves intact. May his testes itch all day everyday as his hands are tied above his head and he hangs from a hook.

You're being too nice.

Lol he's one of the most iconic figures in criminal history quit being such a whiner this is definitely noteworthy.

Or you know, just scroll past the thread instead of purposefully coming in just to poo-poo at it.

the judge came within a second of shooting Manson in the courtroom. too bad he didn't.

Yay!!!! Long overdue. Good riddance to that pile of ****.
