Woman accuses Al Franken of kissing, groping her without consent

Whatever is prescribed by law. It really doesn't matter what I think it should be. But, I will indulge you just a bit...I think he should have gotten his ass kicked right then and there. I know, not very civilized, but you do that to a female in front of me, I'm beating on you. Which is a good thing I'm not a law maker or a judge.

And I would prefer if he resigned.

Should Trump and Justice Thomas also resign?

Why would I defend Moore again? I already make my statement about him to be nuked long ago if the accusations are proven true (like a picture or phone records). Does he have a picture grabbing a sleeping womans headlamps? That would be your job if so.

Oh another accuser just came out for franken as predicted.

Journalist Melanie Morgan: Al Franken Harassed Me After Bill Maher Program

"After the show, Morgan said Franken "stalked me back over to the green room."

She said that Franken got her telephone number from a producer and later repeatedly called her.

Morgan said that the third time Franken called, she threatened to report him to the authorities."

What a creepy loon.
How tragic!

She was "stalked" over an argument about CBO numbers.

Scarred for life!

So now getting the phone number of a person who you fancy and calling that person up to ask them out on a date.. now makes you a "creepy loon"?

He didn't "fancy" her or was calling for a date.

He got into an debate with Hannity's BFF about CBO numbers -- that's what it was. It's a freakin' phone, don't answer or hang up if it bothers you that much.

And they had caller ID then, too.

But nooooo: Connies be like: he sexually assaulted her with CBO numbers!!!!

Moore = "If"
Franken = Done deal

You are so transparent.

We are not talking about criminal law. You get due process in criminal law. You are innocent until proven guilty in a criminal law. However, it is a privilege to serve in the Senate. Where there are numerous credible allegations of sexual assault or child molestation, then you shouldn't still have that privilege of serving in elected office. This is why Moore has no business in the Senate.

Considering how pervasive sexual harassment still is, in 2017 when you would think we getting our act together a little more, there should be zero tolerance for it for men in positions of power. Thus Al Franken should resign.

I will go one further. In retrospect, Bill Clinton should have resigned after the Lewinsky affair. We need to have zero tolerance for this bull**** out of men in power anymore.

Oh wait a minute now....So, Moore is not afforded the benefit of innocent until proven guilty eh, well, anyone could say anything then right? Wow...I sure hope we are not in that place as a country...

Moore = "If"
Franken = Done deal

You are so transparent.

Franken = should get due process through the ethics committee.

Moore = He's guilty he should drop out....

Who's transparent?

This is getting weird. Next Gilbert Gottfried is going to accuse Andrew Dice Clay of groping him.

How about that asshole George Takei? Now he's an asshole and a groper.

Oh wait a minute now....So, Moore is not afforded the benefit of innocent until proven guilty eh, well, anyone could say anything then right? Wow...I sure hope we are not in that place as a country...

^ said the guy who called Clinton a serial rapist. ^

They are very different things.

Moore's alleged actions are perverse by American standards and illegal. They also reflect a pattern of behavior at a point in his life, as evidenced by the number of incidents. What he did was felony. Moore has accepted zero responsibility. He is unrepentant.

What Franken may be guilty of is more line with what Trump claims to be guilty of, using his celebrity status to take advantage of women. Unlike Trump, however, (and at the moment) it appears that Franken's incident was a single incident and Franken has taken ownership of, and apologized for, the incident. What Franken did is more of a civil offense than a crime (though it could have been chargeable)......

Trump, OTH, in addition to bragging about using his celebrity status to take advantage of women, did somethings that are really more line with that of Moore. He also bragged by entering the dressing room of young Miss Universe contests for his prurient reasons. Its pretty disgusting.

If Trump resigns; then Franken should resign. Moore just should not be elected.

Moore may not have been repentant as he might be innocent. Franken has said that he is sorry for the photo, but he has not apologized for his grabbing and kissing. He has stated that he has a different recollection of that. As for Trump, please don't even think that I will support what he has done or said with regard to sexual proclivities. You mistake me for somebody else.

In a court a law, of course Moore is. However, the Senate is a privilege. If several women come forth, none of them knowing each other, each of them giving credible allegations of sexual misconduct, and in some cases child molestation, and those claims are corroborated by multiple people, then he doesn't have any business in the Senate - particularly considering when first interviewed about it on Hannity, he doesn't even unequivocally deny their claims. (ask their mother's permission and so on)

Let's say numerous adults come forward, none of them knowing each other, and give credible accounts of child molestation by a priest when they were kids in that priest's parish. By your argument, that priest should stay in the priesthood and rector of their parish until they get convicted in a court of law. If decades have past, as often is the case, and thus a criminal case cannot be brought, then that priest should never be removed and continue to work with kids until they day they finally retire.

How about that asshole George Takei? Now he's an asshole and a groper.

Has anybody else noticed that the other thing in common that these guys seem to have is that they are all old and out of former generations?

Based on the picture it looks to me like he's just pretending to grab her. Bad joke, but in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't compare to anything Roy Moore has done. The kiss sounds worse to me, but it is true that actors and actresses do these kinds of things. Certainly not Franken at his best, but nothing that comes close to warranting anything more than an apology.

I believe you should have said anything alleged Moore have done. I have seen two pictures of Franken groping women and in his statement he admits he did it....far cry from alleged allegations. You do know that pictures speak more then words.
So your fairy tale account falls flat.

Franken statement and comments:

"I respect women. I don't respect men who don't. And the fact that my own actions have given people a good reason to doubt that makes me feel ashamed.
"But I want to say something else, too. Over the last few months, all of us—including and especially men who respect women—have been forced to take a good, hard look at our own actions and think (perhaps, shamefully, for the first time) about how those actions have affected women.
"For instance, that picture. I don't know what was in my head when I took that picture, and it doesn't matter. There's no excuse. I look at it now and I feel disgusted with myself. It isn't funny. It's completely inappropriate. It's obvious how Leeann would feel violated by that picture. And, what's more, I can see how millions of other women would feel violated by it—women who have had similar experiences in their own lives, women who fear having those experiences, women who look up to me, women who have counted on me.
"Coming from the world of comedy, I've told and written a lot of jokes that I once thought were funny but later came to realize were just plain offensive. But the intentions behind my actions aren't the point at all. It's the impact these jokes had on others that matters. And I'm sorry it's taken me so long to come to terms with that.
"While I don't remember the rehearsal for the skit as Leeann does, I understand why we need to listen to and believe women's experiences.
"I am asking that an ethics investigation be undertaken, and I will gladly cooperate.
"And the truth is, what people think of me in light of this is far less important than what people think of women who continue to come forward to tell their stories. They deserve to be heard, and believed. And they deserve to know that I am their ally and supporter. I have let them down and am committed to making it up to them."

Its obvious that you are being a liberal apologist.

I applaud your consistency.

I am disappointed in Franken, but at least he owned it. In the end, however, he has lost the respect of a great number of people on all sides of the political spectrum.

One cannot call for the heads of Trump and Moore for their transgressions and then excuse Franken. There is a standard of conduct that you hope all people, regardless race, religion, political lean, etc. will observe. I've no use for anyone who uses their physical, financial, celebrity status, or any other advantage to force themselves on someone. I've confronted several men and even a few women in both my career in law enforcement and my personal life over these things. I probably crossed the line in terms of my response, which is a problem I fully admit, but I do not abide a predator.

The only gray area in some of these accusations of misconduct would be where the accuser was actually a consenting adult at the time it occurred. Where that is the case this is a non-story. That being said, I have no idea what the truth of the matter is.

Yup. So all you young guys, let this be a lesson to you.

I believe you should have said anything alleged Moore have done.
Please. Drop your delusions. When this many women have come forward and essentially said the same thing you can quit pretending there's a realistic chance he's innocent. If McConnell and Ryan can admit these witnesses are credible it's time for you to as well.

I have seen two pictures of Franken groping women and in his statement he admits he did it....far cry from alleged allegations. You do know that pictures speak more than words.

I've seen one picture, that picture seems to indicate he was pretending to grab her. What Franken has said is that he completely understands how a woman would feel violated based upon what's in that picture, and that is true. This is still small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. Even the woman who accused him has come forward and stated that she accepts his apology.

You're trying to draw a false equivalency between the disgusting remarks, and actions of Trump and Moore with what is clearly nothing more that really bad joke. They do not come close to each other.

Franken = should get due process through the ethics committee.

Moore = He's guilty he should drop out....

Who's transparent?

Let's see...

Franken = admitted and apologized and asked for an investigation on himself.
Moore = lying his ass off... and his sheep are eating it up.

No means no. If you are repeatedly harassing someone and have to be threatened to go away then you are possibly in stalker territory.
That is not nearly the only reason he appears as a creepy loon.

The whole raping fantasy thing and his sons bestiality episode and on and on ad infinitum.

And of course the accuser that came forward with verifiable evidence.

So if a woman says no the first time to a date, then you should just give up? Damn... that would mean I would never have been born, and most of my friends and family and probably you as well.

Two pictures?

I've seen one. Where is the other one?

Thank you for explaining your position on this issue.

My position is that Trump should NOT be asked to step down because of his transgressions against women because this happened before he was President and the people were informed about it and elected him anyway.

Moore should NOT be elected a Senator because of his transgressions, among many other valid reasons not to elect him. If he wins election, he should take his seat and have the same powers as every other Senator since he would be the choice of the people of Alabama.

Franken - unless more comes out - did not do these things as a Senator but is subject to censure and rebuke from the Senate. I do not favor him resigning either. Like Trump, the people in Minnesota were made aware of his background in comedy and some it being sexual and offensive... and they elected him anyways. So to use that now is ridiculous. But I have no problem with him being censured by his colleagues.

If any member of Congress is found to have committed sexual abuse while in office - they should resign.

I respect your position on this issue, I simply disagree. I see the merit of your case regarding the fact that the people are informed and proceed to elect the accused regardless. Frankly I just don't like it. But I get it. All I can do is voice my dislike it about it and vote the way my conciseness tells me to.

And as long as we are all honest and consistent - its fine with me.

The people who are to be pitied are the tribal warriors who want to excuse their own soldiers but condemn the other side for far far less.

On the sexual accusation stories through the years here we go:

Ted Kennedy, Bill Cosby, Dennis Hastert, Jerry Sandusky, Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, Bob Packwood
are the real evil doers. All the rest accused through the years were out of line maybe but committed only sweet summer breeze offenses
rather than the hurricane types of abuse of the above mentioned and should be dealt as such. Frankel who I don't care
for, most of all can hardly be considered guilty of anything terrible. This whole thing has gone far to far.
