A mob of 20,000 Muslims in Bangladesh burned down an entire village after a rumor spread that a Facebook post insulting the Prophet had been made by a village resident:

A Hindu village in Bangladesh was burnt down after a rumour spread that a local youth had insulted the Prophet Mohammed in a Facebook post.

More than 30 houses were set alight in the Rangpur Sadar upazila (district) following the man’s alleged defamation of the religious figure on social media.

The mob reportedly emerged from a crowd of 20,000 people who had gathered from six or seven neighbouring Muslim villages. Anger started to grow after a local Muslim businessman lodged a complaint with the police about the alleged Facebook post.

One person was killed and five others received serious injuries as the police tried to stop the arson and looting attack in the village of Thakurpara, as reported by the Dhaka Tribune, by firing tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd.

In response to the police violence, the group blocked the local Rangpur-Dinajpur highway in protest, blocking traffic for about four hours.

Just another day in the life of the Religion of Peace (piece of you here, piece of you over there)
CNN and BBC won't cover this, because it might harm the pristine image of that peace.

Of course no one on the Right has the least sympathy for the hundreds of thousands of Rohygniya Muslims next door in Myanmar being "ethnically cleansed".

In other words, there's LOTS of mud to be thrown around.

Sure we do. Go dig up that thread.

Ahh, another day, another right winger excusing genocide and covering for a brutal, totalitarian regime. What a surprise.

Buddy, I was in that thread. I vividly remember people on the right claiming that what is going on "isn't genocide" and making excuses and justifying the actions of the exceptionally corrupt and brutal government of "Myanmar". The OP was one of the leaders, in fact, of that effort.

Do you really not know how to find stuff, apdst?

... download Google chrome (or navigate to google.com), type in "site:debatepolitics.com" and "myanmar". It's literally the first result.

Poster "sanman" tried to claim that the noncombatants being hacked to death were, in fact "transnational jihadis" despite a decided lack of evidence that was the case, especially considering the fact that the Army of "Myanmar" is notorious for avoiding actual combat and instead targeting the civilians of various "undesirable" ethnic groups. The usual brutality of that government sparked an insurgency(one of at least a dozen going on in "Myanmar"--- the government there really gets around when it comes to oppressing its minorities).

Where did sanman do any of that?

Literally just posted the link to thread. Apparently women, old people and little children are "transnational jihadis" now and deserve to be hacked to death with machetes.

Where did sanman do any of that?

You use the word "genocide" whereas this is about people being expelled, rather than merely being killed outright. Nextly, the Muslims are brown-skinned Bengalis, whereas the native Myanmar population are yellow-skinned East Asians. So the ethnic distinction is racial and not merely religious/sectarian.

... Google.

Repeatedly. Across the course of the entire thread. Which was linked to you.

I know right? Telling the truth is so unpleasant to some people on the right these days that they just can't take it seriously.

Ok, one poster? Not "the Right" as Glen claimed?

Translation: LOOK! SQUIRREL!!

And now this thread has successfully been turned into a Myanmar thread. Congrats, it worked.

Oh, he had plenty of support from other right wing posters as well.

VanceMack tried to claim nobody on the left cared about ISIS' atrocities(incredibly, laughably untrue) so no one should care about this. Coldjoint' twin, the currently banned and not at lamented "praisekek" literally said the victims had it coming.

So yes, the right was represented in that display of hatred.

Care to discuss the thread topic? What is your take on the fact that a spontaneously created mob of Muslims can burn down an entire village based on a rumor? Where does that fit into the left's "vast majority of Muslims are peaceful" rhetoric? This is a perfect example showing that a previous lack of violence does NOT mean that people are peaceful. It just shows they haven't been sufficiently provoked into becoming a vicious mob yet.

You could buy the book "Sharpen Up Those Reading Skills!" ..... um .... no .... that might not work for you.

Violations of religious freedom and religious violence in SE Asia is not out of the norm. Bangladesh, especially. Since 2013 there's been nearly 100 assassinations of secular, atheist and LGBT individuals.

Fake post! I am on the right and I have lots of sympathy for the Rohygniya Muslims.

Oh really? Do we need to go over the history of violent mobs being started by rumors? Because I hate to break it to you, it's something which has been very common, especially historically.

Are you ****ing serious right now? So your excuse for the murder of innocent people is "they aren't innocent, they just haven't been whipped into a violent mob yet"? Do you even remotely comprehend how deeply ****ed up that way of thinking is?

So you'd be cool with a death squad rolling into your neighborhood, pulling people out of their houses and shot them in the stret, right? After all, they haven't done anything, but they might, under some set of circumstances, at some point, so might as just kill them now...... right?

God, the anti Muslim rhetoric is starting to sound like something out of the 1930s.
