It looks like most adults don't think firing Comey was a great idea. Not surprisingly, 58% of Republicans approve. Only 21% of independents approve.

Why is this significant? It's significant in my opinion because most U.S. adults feel that firing Comey was unwise.

Just 29 percent of Americans say they approve of President Donald Trump's decision to fire FBI Director James Comey, while 38 percent disapprove, according to results from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. Another 32 percent of respondents don't have enough to say on the matter.

Yet among those who say they have read, seen or heard "a lot" about the firing, 53 percent say they disapprove, versus 33 percent who approve.


The NBC/WSJ poll — conducted May 11-13, after Trump's dismissal of Comey — doesn't show a significant change in the president's overall standing.

Trump's job-approval rating stands at 39 percent, which is one point lower than last month's NBC/WSJ survey — well within the poll's margin of error.

While the poll does show that more people (of the people who were polled anyway) disapprove than approve. The headlines are misleading and you parroted it.
'It looks like most adults don't think firing Comey was a great idea'. 38% is not most.

I think the really telling thing there is how many people who have no opinion on the matter. Clearly, there's a lot of people who the White House or the Dems/Media can sway to one side or the other still.

I agree. I think it was because it was a poorly structured poll/question.

Turns out, that's a complex question even for people who really care, maybe even complex BECAUSE they know what's going on.
Was the DECISION to fire him OK? Yes?
Was HOW he fired him OK? No.
Was WHEN he fired him OK? No.

So I'd be no comment on that too. I felt the same way when the poll of that same question showed up on DP.

Agreed. I think Comey should have been fired, but it should have happened already right away or probably not at all. I would have trouble answering the question as it was asked.

And he has lost significant support since then and had already lost the popular vote against possibly the least liked candidate in history. This should concern him, but he's too arrogant to care because his base still praises him like a god.

We saw how the polls can't be believed on election day. Nobody trusts polls or the press anymore.

Considering the last election, do you really think those polls are accurate? A look at our government at all levels tells you it isn't. Examine that FACT before you quote me a poll that gives a 50% Democrat lean. How can pew possibly be correct?
