Trump tells business leaders he wants to cut regulations by 75% or 'maybe more'

Often. Maybe even usually. But not always.

What about the freedom to breath clean. Without regulations some corporations would pollute much more. Or the freedom to drive on safe roads. Without regulations many more truck drivers would be pushed to drive too many hours without sleep.

EPA is one of my sore spots. I think the EPA is essential but I don't want them controlling every body of water, except puddles, in the country. I think they are over reaching in a lot of areas lately. I can also back them because of their oversight related to military reservations that went totally unchecked until the early 80s. They are still discovering nightmare issues on military reservations.

Coming to a city near you.

From one extreme to another.

They regulate our light bulbs, our toilets, our shower heads... I say they should **** Off.

Lol...yeah regulating places which serves food is so overrated

Nobody is saying they don't need regulation... but when regulation is so burdensome you have to close because it makes no sense to stay in business... something is very wrong.

Very nice. More of course is better.

Let Freedon Reign.

'Regulation' is often translated to 'consumer protections'. Or 'environmental protections'.

Slashing protections is not something to be celebrated, especially without having a clue what is being slashed.

Well, of course nothing is absolute.

Regulations also make drivers' job tougher, too.

They cost money.

Regulating society was never meant to be a suicide pact, on either end of the spectrum.

The military did everything they could to keep the EPA out. Finally Congress got involved and the military had to let the EPA on govt reservations. They found massive problems on military reservations where the govt was covering up the use of chemically polluted water supplies for our troops and their families.

The water provided by the Tarawa Terrace and Hadnot Point distribution systems was highly contaminated with various chemicals, including the VOCs (volatile organic compounds) known as PCE (Tetrachloroethylene aka Perchloroethylene), TCE (Trichloroethylene), DCE (Dichloroethylene), Vinyl Chloride and BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylene). These chemicals are either known or suspected human carcinogens. Many Marines, Sailors, their families and loyal civilian employees have been affected by the contamination in various ways including, but not limited to: liver cancer, kidney cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer, ovarian cancer, prostate cancer, cervical cancer, lung cancer, leukemia, non Hodgkins lymphoma, liver disease, miscarriages, birth defects (cleft palate, heart defects, Choanal atresia, neural tube defects, low birth weight, and small for gestational age),etc. Unfortunately, many of these families still have not been notified by the USMC of the danger from their exposure. In 1987 Camp Lejeune was recommended for listing as a Superfund site on the National Priorities List (NPL) by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Camp Lejeune was officially listed as a Superfund site in 1989.

I also agree that they have massively over reached in their regulations but I am not totally anti EPA.

Blah, blah, blah...more promises.

When he delivers they might mean something.

Until then - they mean nothing.

And he went back on his pledge to release his tax returns - so we know his word means squat.

I'm not against regulation, but I'm sure massive amounts could be slashed.

So, there's no happy medium? There's oppression and lawlessness? Nothing in between?

Limited, but proper laws and regulation is what is in between.

Yep, we can't do away with law and regulation, but we need them to be judiciously applied.

And strong regulation, particularly that regarding transparency, is what allows the markets and the wheels of capitalism to turn.

As far as clean air is concerned why would we want to revert?

I am all for clean air. Not every regulation aimed at clean air means clean air. A lot of those regulations won't have any effect on air quality.

So businesses should be free to pollute our water ways without reprocussion? Sure, let's go back to the 1970s.

Well - regulation is to instill protections, not promote business.

I understand your sentiments, and obviously economic cost and impact needs to be examined well when crafting regulation. But if a business entity can't figure out how to do business in a safe manner, that's outside the scope of regulatory need.

Proof that you don't read posts. Thanks. Now go back and read slowly, like very word, then read them like they were sentences. Then read the sentences like they were paragraphs. If you still don't get it come back and I will hammer my point home for you. I would re-explain my point but that wouldn't be a teaching moment.

I agree. The EPA serves a purpose but it can definitely stand to be reigned in a lot.

I'm sure when you state 'a lot of regulations aimed at clean air' dont have any effect, you must have multiple examples, right?

Lets see some. Or are you just parrotting wingnut Brietbart op ed pieces?
