Catastrophe of Biblical Magnitude

You have screws loose.. Too much time cowering I suppose.

You're a funny little man...

So, in the religious forums you seem to think that the virus is the end of the world, but in the political ones it's not a big enough threat for you to take the scientific approach and do what is needed to minimize it.

Either you're really dumb, or you're rooting for the end of the world....but I'm the one with the loose screws... :lamo

Keep going, bud, you're doing just great.

A disease that kills so few that come down with it as this one does is far far from a disaster. and yes I would say the same to relatives of those who died from it.

When one of your loved ones die, it feels like the end. For older couples, it often is.

Go back to cowering, bud. You aren't even keeping up with your own lies.

So? Almost all of us have lost loved ones. And those that haven't will eventually.

Go back to cowering, bud. You aren't even keeping up with your own lies.

I mean, I guess one tactic when outed for your hypocrisy and intellectual incompetence is to just keep accusing others of lying. Works for the guy you support, so why not you, right?

Oh, wait, it doesn't work, and everyone can see right through it, nevermind....

In the context the OP is going with, keep up.

What context would that be? The Bible verse I gave had indicated:

Luke 21
9 When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.

10 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
11 There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

I'm talking about disasters of biblical proportions!

Just think about it: with the virus now, global economy is really struggling.
What would happen if more disasters fall on the world - like, that grand minimum mentioned above happens to be of the same magnitude
as what happened during the Dalton Minimum?

But humanity has experienced pandemics before, and this one is mild compared to the Black Death or the Spanish flu, so how is this one any different?

There is a global recession now, right? Or, we can say the world economy is really struggling.
We're not in a good shape to face more disasters like famine and societal chaos, and maybe more diseases that would come because of those. The Dalton Minimum had also produced a cholera epidemic.

I'm not talking about this pandemic alone here. I'm talking about the possibility of other things on top of it.

Sorry - but all this is repulsive rubbish.

And what I find especially repulsive is this constant Bible "Christian" joy about the end of the world, when Bible "Christians" think they will go to heaven and everybody else will go to hell.

Gee....I suppose you say that to people who can do things that you cannot do.

Do I hear an all green sour grape squawking? You almost sound.........bitter.

Come to think of it, most of your posts seem to drip bitterness. Maybe the problem is not with other people (Christians and what not)?
Maybe, it's you? Have you thought about that?

Christians would be better suited imo. Just look at modern White Evangelicals. They support scamming money from children with cancer, stealing from charity, bragging about sexually assaulting women, scamming people with fake universities. There seems to be literally nothing most won't support for personal gain. According to White Evangelicals:

Survey: White Evangelicals See Trump As 'Honest' And 'Morally Upstanding' : NPR

Unlike White Evangelicals, the vast majority of people of Jewish decent I know are against this kind of stuff.

Can we stay on-topic, please? This thread isn't about Trump!

And I surely don't want this to be a venue for racist bashing of white folks! Create your own thread!

Maybe the false prophets we were warned about.

NASA isn't claiming to be a religious prophet.
And, I surely didn't make any insinuations in the OP that it is.

NASA gave a foerecast................ based on science.

Furthermore, to describe a big disaster as "biblical proportion" is not uncommon. Another term for it is "apocalyptic."

You need to work on your English comprehension skills. We're discussing movies about Catastrophe's of Biblical Proportions, and I was pointing out how Christians would be perfect for the role of the Mayans in the movie. Trump was just part of a survey where the majority of Evangelicals acknowledged they support racism, stealing from charity, scamming children with cancer, etc..

Please, do try to keep up.

Pointing out admitted racists is now racist? What pretzels the Trump base twists themselves into to justify their behavior. :lamo

I was replying to someone that was trying to make fun of prophets and Biblical scripture.

See post #19

I've seen NASA's forecast before and agree it's odd for them to deviate from their usual "global warming" narrative.

Furthermore, to describe a big disaster as "biblical proportion" is not uncommon. Another term for it is "apocalyptic."

So based on your logic, you must believe Santa Claus exists, because every Christmas, people describe gift givers as Secret Santa, Santa Claus, etc.

No, I was just pointing out how ridiculous those "prophecies" were. Predicting there will be earthquakes and famine is no different than predicting there will be rain. Particularly when earthquakes and famine were common.

J.K. Rowling must be a prophet too, because she predicted there would be cars in mankind's future.

This thread isn't meant to discuss movies.

My bad. I thought since we're comparing science to fictional books, comparing science to fictional movies would be OK.

Anyways, I made the prediction that it would rain, which is as just as much a prediction as predicting earthquakes and famine. How is that special in any way?

No you were doing exactly as I said. Your lack of religion doesn't diminish the faith of others.

No you were doing exactly as I said.

I was pointing out that I can make prophecies just as impressive as those in the bible. Obviously that's going to make people who think they are something special look foolish, but that's not my fault.

Your lack of religion doesn't diminish the faith of others.

I understand. I don't believe in Santa Claus, but that doesn't diminish the faith of those who do.

I was pointing out that I can make prophecies just as impressive as those in the bible.

Everyone can make prophecies, lol. As impressive and outrageous you want them to be, too.

Making prophecies is one thing. Making PROPHECIES THAT COME TRUE, is quite another!

Obviously that's going to make people who think they are something special look foolish, but that's not my fault.

....people who don't know the difference between making prophecies and making prophecies that come true, that is. :lamo

I don't believe in Santa Claus,

I hope so! Lol. How old are you?

but that doesn't diminish the faith of those who do.

LITTLE CHILDREN, you mean. ;)

Eh? Do you understand what you quoted from me?

You've got big problems with comprehension, I can see that. And, with logic too! Pathetic, as a matter of fact!

Why would you conclude I believe Santa Clause exists because......"every Christmas, people describe gift givers as Secret Santa, Santa Claus, etc."

What the heck what others do or say, got to do with me?

Furthermore.....what's all that got to do with my quoted post?

Hello? Care to spin that around some more in that head, and think harder? :lamo

I did. Yesterday I predicted rain. Today it rained. I'M MAKING PROPHECIES THAT COME TRUE.

I agree, why are you one of those people who don't know the difference? :lamo

I hope so! Lol. How old are you?

Old enough to know that storybook characters like Santa Claus and Jesus are extremely unlikely to exist.

LITTLE CHILDREN, you mean. ;)

Yep. Simple minds believe magical beings from storybooks exist in real life. They even argue endlessly for their existence, when their evidence comes almost exclusively from the storybook. Crazy, but there you go.

Why are you writing with crayons?

How old are you?

Long past writing with crayons

LITTLE CHILDREN, you mean.

You are correct, they write with crayons and believe storybook characters like Santa and Jesus exist in reality.

Much like what is described in the Bible.......

Luke 21
9 When you hear of wars and uprisings, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away.”

10 Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

.......... might be coming!

The virus might just be one of many disasters and upheavals that's about to descend on us........IF NASA's prediction proves to be bang-on!

NASA Predicts Next Solar Cycle will be Lowest in 200 Years (Dalton Minimum Levels) + the Implications - Electroverse

It had happened before. The question is: how will it compare with the precedents?

What's new. This crap has been around longer than humans have existed, probably wiped out the dinosaurs...
