I'm a Republican and I don't like Trump

Trump isn't more "moderate" than the interchangeable losers the GOP has been lead by for decades

This is true only to the extent that he is more liberal, rather than moderate, than they.

I uttered these words, "I don't like Trump," to a couple of co-workers and they automatically assumed I was a Democrat. NOTE: I do IT Administration for a large religious charity so it's a pretty conservative organization. This is what it's come down to. WTF?! Does the base even recognize other people are running? Not to the general public. I think Trump has broken politics. Trump has got the angry poor working class wrapped around his old, pudgy fingers. This is the end result of the GOP Civil War. All the RINO name-calling combined with the faction of NO. Of which we more moderate/establishment Republicans have been dealing with for the past 8 years. It has all come down to this... I was having a similar discussion with FT over on the John Kasich thread about it and he summed it up pretty well too:

Three words, Republicans, three words: You built that!

I trust Jeff Sessions infinitely more than you on who qualifies as conservative. You're a supporter of open borders Rubio, moreover.

You shouldn't trust anybody, you should do your own research. But if you need someone to tell you what to think, okay. Rubio has a higher conservative rating than Sessions does Rubio scores a 94, Sessions scores an 80. Nor has either man ever endorsed open borders.

Interesting, though, that you don't trust Tim Scott, or Ton Coburn. Nor did sessions make you a Trump fan. Confirmation bias much?

Oh hey, speaking of people trusted to say who is conservative, you know that Rush says that Rubio is a full-throated conservative, and admitted today that Trumps' touch-back provision was the Democrats plan in the Gang of 8, right?

Thrice-married, serial-adulterer Trump has gotten "conservatives" to jump on board with amnesty, planned Parenthood being wonderful, universal health insurance, WMD Trutherisms, and now he's started on 9/11 stuff. Best. Troll. Ever.

By nominating someone even more moderate?

Because it's becoming abundantly clear that to some people, it's not about policy or ideology, but presentation.

Ideologically, Trump is not conservative. Policy wise, he's repeatedly supported liberal ideas. Normally, this sends many of the conservatives on this board and elsewhere running around screaming RINO!.

But because Trump doesn't speak with a "moderate tone", because he's angry instead of diplomatic when talking about how he's going to "make deals", because he acts with bravado and makes outlandish statements he can't make good on instead of trying to be pragmatic and realistic in speech...suddenly he's A-OK.

Take Trump's policies and ideology and present them in a tone and style of John Huntsman in 2012, and Trump would be driven out for being a horribly liberal RINO that has is worse than McCain or Romney. But because he shouts and insults people and screams "WALL", they stupidly go along.

It's becoming abundantly clear that a bunch of folks that loved to through around the RINO label and bitch about people not being "conservative" are themselves not conservative...apparently they're ideology is simply "asshole", because it absolutely isn't conservatism that's attracting them to Trump.

Except Sessions didn't declare Trump a conservative, and actually indicated he disagreed with Trump on a lot of things. But he supports what he's SAYING about immigration, so he jumped on board.

Exactly. Supporting Trump for his conservatism is like supporting Hillary for her honesty.

Fact is the GOP has put forth way too many moderate presidential candidates who were losers.

Most of the people who call themselves Republicans want to win this time around

By nominating someone that blacks and hispanics won't vote for? (hint...the pissed off angry white guy vote...not exactly a growing faction)
