They have you asvab but wont tell you your line scores
Cant tell you what jobs you are eligible for till Meps
At Meps if you go you will be absolutely required to sign up for the service no matter what
There is no discussion of how long till you get shipped to bootcamp till meps
There is no discussion about what job you will be doing or your pay rate till you agree to sign up
You are told all benefits you will get for joining(Education Ecs)
but nothing else will be given unless you sign up
If you do not sign up now, you will not be allowed to ever re-enter service
Sorry, this is a load of crap. I have no idea why you are posting something like this, but it is absolutely 100% unlike how the military recruits.
You are told your line scores almost immediately after you take the ASVAB, it is no secret. I have taken it 3 different times, my results took only a few days in the 1980's because it was all old school with paper and pencil. When I retook it in 2005, I had the results in my hand before I left the testing center.
As far as jobs, that is right. But that is because the recruiter can only tell you what schools you qualify for based upon the test scores. They do not have a list of school dates and availability. You might have the scores for Metal Fabrication, but if the school is fully booked and backlogged for 2 years, you will not be offered that MOS. Recruiters do not have access to that information, it is only available from the career planners at MEPS.
Same with shipping to boot camp. Your ship date is based upon the starting date of your advanced training. They take the start date, then figure the boot camp class that graduates shorly before that school starts, then offer you the start date of that boot camp as your entry date. The military does not want you simply hanging around at some base for 2-4 months doing nothing while you wait for your school to start.
And your MOS is your job, you get that at MEPS. However, a good recruiter can give you an idea of the jobs available by your ASVAB scores, and let you know what they do.
As far as pay grade, that is simple. You will be an E-1, unless you have some special background (college, JROTC, etc) that qualifies you for a higher one. I knew when I joined the Marines in 1982 I would be an E-2, because of Army JROTC. When I joined the Army in 2007, I knew it would be as an E-3, for the same reason. If you have an AA or higher, this pretty much guarantees you E-3 to E-4, deending on degree and branch of service. Once again, any recruiter worth a damn can give you this information.
As far as the "sign up now or never", that is bullcrap. I would go to the MEPS and request to talk to the senior Recruiter for that branch of service and tell them what your recruiter told you. That is 100% wrong, and it sounds like if what you are saying is true, you have a lying sack of crap recruiter. That joker needs to be kicked out of recruiting and sent to a harbor tug scraping paint until their enlistment ends.
