The way the poll is set up, most will fall over 50k and what will that mean?
And, at the time I'm posting this, that is what happened. 30 people checked "over $50K. Four others checked $40K to $50K.
Let's assume these answers are honest and that all of them read and understood that these were individual incomes and not family incomes.
Many are asking why I didn't use larger numbers. It looks like most of the people on this forum are in good financial shape, unless they are in high rent places like NYC or L.A.
But, look at the other end of the spectrum. The next largest number, 9, checked the lowest figure--Under $5K. I expected something like this because unemployment is at record levels right now--and rising--and will continue to rise until next year when enough Republicans and fiscal conservatives get seats in Congress and legislatures to halt the reckless spending, taxing, and regulating.
Only a handful voted for anything in the middle--no more than 2 votes in any one category.
As a result of this poll, we now see that the great majority of people fall at the extremes of very poor (under $5K) and the well to do at $50K and above. The big number poll did not provide this information.
And the under $5K category looks like it is rapidly growing. Welcome to the Greater Depression.
Doesn't Obama want to tax the rich? Better them than me.
Looking at the way things are going, if you're making $50K, the government might consider you rich and soak you.
i live in fl.....where do you live?
ps....i don't consider over 50k much.
I was in St Petersburg and Sarasota last year. All along the Tamiami Trail I personally saw at least one out of every three businesses closed and boarded up. There were unemployed people all over the place.
I'm a dirt poor unemployed university student getting by on scholarships and a janitorial job at a church (all I do is vacuum it twice a week). Thanks Obama for screwing students and the job market
If anything the government should put some regulation on rising tuition prices...
There are many others just like you.
 you can't live in my county for less than almost double your top choice.
Yes, there are some places where living costs are outrageous. I'll bet the place where you live has lots of big government that taxes and regulates the hell out of everybody--maybe NY, NJ, MA, RI, or CA.
You needed an "over $500,000" option.
Don't let Obama find out. He'll soak you.
Did you really need to make four separate "under $20K" categories and everyone who makes over $50K gets lumped together?
There is a big difference between under $5K and $15K to $20K. The huge majority was under $5K.
There is another poll that has the large numbers you like.
I have been trying for about a year, where I am at no one is wanting to hire a part time worker with a full time students schedule. Most places have been cutting back on hours and employees. I support working, but finding a job in this economy and with a student schedule is hard/impossible
I am thankful for the little income I have through my cleaning job.
Maybe one of those $50K earners would be willing to hire you. Would you accept $15K?
1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 Zimbabwe dollars.
That's at least a 40 foot shipping container full of those $100 trillion dollar notes.
Zimbabwe dollars, of course.
I actually make no money, as I am a poor college student. My wife brings in the money right now. So I voted her income level. Once I get a job in my field, we should double that.
You cheated a bit. The poll said individual income, not family income. If you make nothing, you are not alone; there are millions of others (9 million new ones this past year) on the same Obama-Biden Titanic.
I don't get the point of this poll...... 50K is supposed is supposed to make you rich? ..... I know people who make 80K and struggle to get by. But then again New York and LA are really expensive cities. I think wealth shouldn't be measured in how much you make but how much you have left at the end of the month. I could make 10K a month and have left $400 a month to save up. That doesn't make me rich.
Believe it or not, I know people who make $20K and do very well.
Those who cannot "make it" with an income of $50K annually, need to learn how to budget money....
This is what I should be doing, retired on less than $30K annually....
I could retire very well on $30K.
