The lawmaker brought up his beef with the Capitol’s maintenance operation on Friday during a freewheeling House floor speech about the misplaced priorities of federal agencies.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]“About seven years ago, the Architect of the Capitol, who works for the House and Senate, had decided that we all work for him and started making demands. One of which was, I could not cook ribs and share them with other members of Congress,” Gohmert said.

Gohmert recalled that “most of the networks” wanted to run stories about his tradition of cooking ribs for his colleagues once a quarter.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]But the Architect of the Capitol expressed concerns the grilling operation could pose a fire hazard for the Capitol Hill complex.[/FONT]
[FONT=&quot]Gohmert is a conservative firebrand known as one of Capitol Hill’s most colorful figures. But there’s one thing lawmakers on both sides of the aisle agree on: He makes legendary Texas ribs.[/FONT]

Gohmert Pile may be the biggest idiot on the right in Congress that's still an active member, but he hasn't been openly concerned about an island tipping over and sinking if the US military puts too many people on it... that was a Democrat (Johnson from Georgia's 4th) that did that one.

As for cooking ribs on his balcony? Yeah, that was a silly request for anyone to make that has any common sense. Now, if he had wanted to cook them in the courtyard and was told he couldn't, then I may have been swayed to be on his side. But I can just see old Gohmert Pile setting the whole damned office building on fire, and saying "Surprise, surprise, surprise."

Nothing like wasting taxpayer money by bitching on why you should be able to grill ****ing ribs on your workplace balcony. Seriously? How self centered can one idiot be? Can you not wait until you get back home to grill some ****ing ribs?!? I know he is from Texas but Jesus ****ing Christ.

I don't see any other reason why someone would stop a person from grilling up delicious pork ribs

Yep, my thoughts exactly.

I've been to a lot of bar and neighborhood summer grill & keg parties over my lifetime, where there were occasionally some assholes. But if the asshole could grill really well, I managed to find them tolerable.

If they supplied the beer, hell they might even become friends before the night was over!

Never underestimate the fraternal power of good BBQ & strong libations! ;)

No real story here. Looks like this happened about seven years ago. Since then, he's been happily grilling away on another Representative's balcony.

Don't really see what the big deal is. Balcony grilling was allowed in every apartment I ever lived in.
