In a perfect world where people rationally think things through, sure. In reality there would be too much opposition because "honest citizens" should be protected and helped, life has value, yada yada yada, whereas "scum" like prisoners can more easily be written off. If you start with less sympathetic examples, you can then point to them and say, "See? We already do it for prisoners. Why not everybody?"I'd still rather start somewhere else. There are honest citizens who have been going to court and fighting for euthanasia to be made into law, so I think those people should be able to do it instead.
The purpose of the original question, though, wasn't really about using a slippery-slope method to gain euthanasia for everybody. It was more along the lines of LWOP prisoners not being of any purpose or use to society, and it costs money to incarcerate them, so if they choose to end it early, what's the big deal?
To me, I just don't see the point of getting hung up on who might be more deserving. The two aspects are separate and distinct and can stand or not on their own.
